I like Nate, but I can't recall seeing a more obvious look for an exit in my life. His own team didn't even want to stop the fight, you could tell. He was so CLEARLY trying to get the fight stopped before 4 rounds were completed. Even when the doctor was looking at his eye, the Doctor said "Not the cut... are you telling me that you just can't see out of your eye?" In other words... the doctor was NOT going to stop the fight because of the cut. I believe that realistically the circumstances have to be evaluated. Campbell was getting dominated in there, before and after the cut. He was also extremely lucid and didn't display any type of real vision problems. He was still slipped punches thrown to that side after the cut.

Compare this to a similar case such as Rahman vs Toney II. Rahman was winning up until their clash of heads. Toney wasn't finding any success in landing his punches until directly AFTER the clash of heads which caused a cut. Immediately after the cut, Rahman couldn't avoid a right hand to save his life. That was an obvious case of the headbutt doing damage to the eye, completely changing the coarse of the fight.

Yep, Campbell stopped the fight. As soon as he got to his corner he was complaining in a fashion that would clearly lead to the fight ending, and his team were trying to get him to pull his head in, but he persisted.

The ref did make a mistake in not identifying it as a headbutt but Campbell made a huge judgement error in quitting.

If this remains TKO3 then James Toney needs one more stoppage (and one less NC) on his record. :deal

He wanted a way out of his ass whoppin without a loss. So he tried to rob his opponent of the victory. Disgusting display he put on tonight.

He begged to have the fight stopped. Clearly.

Totally agreed. If the injury had been serious enough to legitimize Campbell's actions I might disagree, I do not. If the referee stopped the fight, and not Nate Campbell himself I might disagree. I do not.

If a cut is cause by an acidental headbutt before the 4th round the fight is ruled a no decision ... if a cut is cause by a punch its ruled a TKO ... and if the cut cause by an acidental butt is cause after the 4th you go to the scorecards ...

It was apparent that the cut was caused by a headbutt before the 4th, Campbell couldn't see then the fight has to be stopped and ruled a no decision.

It wasn't anything that went down that showed me that Nate wanted to quit, other than that big ass gash on his eye brow stretching down to his eye lid cause by that big ass neanderthal/dolphin forehead of Bradley's.

This is the first time I agree~ Rules are the Rules and that cut was bad and happend Early I dont think Nate bitched out in any way with a guy that has that much experience and fast hands like Bradley you need both your eyes.

The cut was clearly caused by the headbutt and so you cant sensibly argue against a no decision verdict being the right thing to do. However, Campbell was clearly looking to quit as soon as his ass hit the stool. While the cut looked bad, who knows what the corner could have done with it ? Nate certainly didnt want to find out.

I disagree....he said he had trouble seeing, and we can't judge unless we are seeing what he saw

I agree with this a bit.

I think Campbell realised he was up against it with both eyes open, however with that cut, he probably had little chance. No disputing the cause of the cut was a headbutt.

Perhaps a little bit of gamesmanship going on there, however the chances are, if the fight did go on then the cut would of became a major factor in the later rounds. For Campbell, why risk a beating?

This is of course all speculation, for all anyone knows Nate Campbell could genuinely of got an eye injury from the clash of heads. If he did, then he was 100% right to call off the fight. Why risk you sight?

But Campbell claimed that he had 'spots', basically saying the blood had got in his eye. Now whether that's true or not we don't know.

However if it is true, then it doesn't matter what they could have done with the cut. The reason fights are stopped on cuts is to stop blood getting into a fighters eye, impairing their vision and potentially causing serious damage to the eye itself.

Of course this is presuming that blood had actually got into Nate's eye, but you understand that if they could have stopped the cut bleeding or not didn't matter at all, because Nate supposedly wasn't going to be able to see anyway ?
