Man, I hope so, but Nate's older than Hopkins was when Bernard was out in the wilderness (nice phrase). Something good needs to happen for Nate soon.

This is a prime example of why holding a belt still matter to fighters, even when some fans and media members say "the titles don't mean anything". Nate has that title, so he at least has some leverage. Without it, he'd really be screwed, much like Casa was when he got stripped of his title after defeating Corrales.

    Good luck, Nate.

I was glad I read that, because when he was a commentator on ESPN once I heard him say something about his grandchild and I thought I heard him wrong.

New Title: Nate Campbell, undisputed Best Boxing Grandfather in the World.

Yeah, he'd defintely be great behind the mike once he hangs up the gloves. He provides a lot of insight, he's respectful to the fighters, and he explains things without sounding condescending to the audience. He's probably enough of his own man to not be biased toward whatever fighters the network has ties to.

That no longer appears likely. But there may be something else to announce later this week......

maybe nate will be better off w/ arum than golden boy. seems that the only boxer getting the BIG money there is dlh himself while every boxer pac has fought under top rank in the past 2-3 years has gotten his biggest payday.

Gee am I the only one that remembers the OPEN LETTER to Richard Schaefer? Theres no ****ing way GBP picks him up...They wouldnt give him a cup of **** to take a pill......As far as decent options I only see Dibella or Top Rank......Gary Shaw? NO, hes worse than Don King.

Didn't Campbell like Don King? Didn't he say he was a great promoter, huh?

Campbell's got the belts for now, he can definitely get some big fights without Don King.

If Nate does indeed end up at GBP, that would be better for him.

Why fighters continue to sign with that crook is beyond me.

    **** Don King.

Awesome.. Keep us posted on whats going on :thumbsup

I don't blame Nate for doing what he did.. He's got a big family and needs some fights and some paydays.. Hopefully we'll get to see him fight again this year.. I was figuring that he'd fight his mando Ali Funeka.. Maybe a fight with JMM? Dunno' if he'd fight in November if that was the month Campbell was to fight.. I'd like to see him square off with Katsidis or maybe the Guzman fight will come through seeing as how Campbell needs a payday and Guzzy said he would fight for free..

If I were Campbell, I'd delay fighting Funeka as long as humanly possible, and maybe even drop the belt to avoid fighting him. That guy looks like bad news. 5'11" with a big punch and a very awkward style.
