We'd love to. Unfortunately it takes 2 to make a fight. I dont think Nate is in the plans of any GBP fighter, as long as HBO continues to let them do whatever the hell they want to.

True, GBP is turning into everything they said they were against. They should do whats good for boxing and ultimately what good for boxing is unifications.

You're actually on to something here. There is a huge difference in the level of promotion from the 70's and 80's to today. And the lack of promotion today has played a part in the shrinking fan base, combined with the absence of boxing on network tv. These days all most promoters do is get a tv date, and a site fee from a casino, and then show up on fight week. They dont care if tickets are sold, given away, or whatever. They dont do the grass roots promoting that was done back in the days where you had to fill an arena. And the few tv dates that are out there are not given out based on achievement, they are given out based on who your promoter is. If youre with GBP or Top Rank, you get on HBO. If youre with Shaw, you get on Showtime. If youre with anyone else, you hope and pray a deal can be made somewhere. There are alot fewer opportunities these days for fighters of any race to really cross over into the mainstream.

Not taking the obvious fights that should be made and he would make good money in the process. So who does he want to fight exactly?

Dont get me wrong, I love Marquez as a fighter. I was the lone poster here a few years back that was saying that Marquez was the best Mexican fighter going, when everyone eles was saying MAB and Erik. However he has seemed to take easier fights from time to time. IE not fighting hamed, not agreeing to fight Pac after the first fight, but I wouldnt say that he fights bums, the guy fights top notch guys just about every time out. You cant fight everyone.

Name one fight that Nate has ever turned down? There arent any.

Its not Nate's fault that GBP wont allow Marquez-Campbell, or Campbell-Diaz 2 to happen.

Nate will fight anybody, and has publically said that again and again. He'd like to fight Marquez, a Diaz rematch, Pac, anybody that the public thinks is the best. As it stands, he will probably be doing his mandatory with Funeka next, since nobody else will step up and fight.

Do you think Hbo sides with GBP because Oscar is still active as a fighter? cuz i feel Hbo wont jsay "how high" when GBP says "jump" after Oscar retires.

True. But if youre the supposed linear champion at 135 now, why would you want to fight Diaz, instead of the guy who beat him and has all his belts? Why not settle the question as to who is the best at 135?

change in times bro, latinos as a whole have barely been making noise for about 20 years (if that)...blacks have been involved, loved, and respected in the sport since almost the beginning...first it was the whites, then joe louis changed that...then from the 40's on it was the blacks...till about the late 80's latinos started coming around really strong....since then, latinos have produced some of the best there is (some will still be held above the top 100 because they're latinos :-( ).....now, in this generation with other combat sports around like mma, a lot of people preffer the hard nosed aggresive styles that most latinos bring, therefore they get followed a lot more....most people nowadays aint happy WITH JUST A WIN, they wanna see every fighter earn that ****en dollar that's coming out of our pocket...

i think most blacks just feel left out a bit, especially a throw back like nate...but that's his own personal fault, not ours...
and as much as you say he wasn't talking about his own career, thats bull****..you know if he was white he wouldn't be saying that **** or even paying attention...

take for example rashad evans...probably the best all around ufc fighter right now...but since he show boats and fights like a mma version of floyd mayweather, even though he ko'd the icemann, he still gets **** for it....but since mma is still an adolescent sport, he dont throw the race card around....

i myself notice that a lot of different people from different backrounds are starting to like boxing a lot better as a whole, and not just their countrymen...i myself can tell you that taylor and cotto are amongst my favorite fighters right now...and that's coming from a young mexican that lives right next to the border in southern california....and that shouldn't be weird, but it is what it is and we just gotta accept that......plus it makes the sport fun on fightnight...

I thought you said Nate probably wont do any fights with Golden Boy fighters since HBO lets them do whatever they want? :huh

Arum offered Marquez 100,000 more than he got for the first fight I believe. Marquez thought he deserved more and Arum gave Marquez and Nacho a take it or leave it offer. Marquerz walked. He contributed to the drama, and the fact that Arum wanted more money and he doesn't even fight was ridiculous to Marquez's people. They took the John fight to show that they didn't need to submit to any bogus offer Arum made. Marquez is ok now. It took time, but he did get the rematch.
