I've heard that arguement many times, and it may have some merit to it, but nobody really believes that Oscar would actually take one of his own fights to Showtime, or distribute it himself on ppv. He's helpless without HBO, and HBO knows that. I believe its more of a case of HBO preferring to deal with "corporate" guys like Shaeffer, rather than "boxing" people like Arum and King. The HBO suits like Greenberg and Davis are not "boxing people". They are "corporate people". I think the exception at HBO is Mark Taffet. He's actually what I consider a "boxing guy". You can talk about fights with him, and he knows what the hell he is talking about.

No, he said he doubts GBP will do business with Campbell. Marquez will take that fight though. He isn't a GBP stooge like the other fighters who are taking money fights...

I dont give a f@ck if Campbell said that or not. Why the hell you feel the need to come on the boards and try and start this race crap is beyond me.

FYI I am a white American whose favorite fighter was Holyfield (black). I love watching a puerto rican (Cotto), mexicans (Vargas, JMM), Philipino (Pac). And yes I love watching a white american fight (Pavlik) and a Dane (Kessler) and OMG I can't stand Calzaghe! I must be a racist!

You suck. Nate Campbell is still hilarious though.

Truth be told.......Its not about proving your the best fighter first. I have been tring to tell the Latino poster here that for along time. They always throw that Pride **** out there, when its only pride after money. Im not sure if your Campbell himself or someone that works with him, but I have to be honest, JMM vs Diaz is a bigger fight money wise then JMM vs Campbell, and for a fighter that is reaching the end like Marquez its even more about money then 10 years ago. I would love to see both fights, however I love to see fighters get paid, and if Marquez is going to make more fighting Diaz then that is the fight he should take. I know that it sucks for you...Um I mean Campbell but that is the way of the world.

Actually, the deal was originally supposed to be $1.5 million for Marquez in the rematch. But that offer was later reduced to $750,000, and Marquez people declined it. Maybe they were bluffing, who knows. But Pac immediately went another direction, and Marquez was left with nothing but the John fight.

because they would rather keep everything in-house, and if JMM fights Diaz or another GBP fighter, no matter who wins they maintain control of the Ring title.

If that's the case why would BHop fight Calzaghe when Calzaghe had nothing to do with Golden Boy? :huh

dont get me wrong, I know that Hamed didnt want to fight JMM, however a offer was made and it was rejected. So in a way yes it was his fault...People alot of times talk bad about fighters but when you really want a fight you take it when offered. IE Jones giving Griffin 80% for the rematch, and hopkins taking a small % to fight Tito I cant remember what it was now.

Who eles was Hopkins going to fight??? Mosley??? What he is saying is true, and its the reason that Arum wanted to make Cotto v Margo before either one fought Floyd and why Arum fought so hard to stop Margo V Williams. He was tring to keep it in house:good
