Yeah, Nate had a very rough beginning. You go from being dirt poor/homeless I believe, correct me if I'm wrong to working in a supermarket, to almost upsetting the best 130 lb fighter, to losing to Peden twice, then winning 3 titles and making it look easy. If that doesn't earn respect, then I don't know what can. We have not heard his voice in boxing. He keeps it real, and he is calling these guys frauds. I only hope Marquez doesn't let GBP steer him wrong. I like and respect both fighters.
You and Santo have this immature outlook on boxing. You don't know how much Nate has or has earned. Do you even know his story? I understand IF you guys love latin fighters, but maybe you're pissed because Nate beat the tar out of Diaz. Whatever the case is, guys grow up and talk boxing. All this mancrush talk, and he ain't broke a mil is corny. Go do stand up somewhere if you think that jive is funny.
My thoughts exactly. But I guess clowns like Santo have something against champs who are actually willing to fight anyone, anywhere, anytime, and NEVER make it about the money.
Wait, you can hear me? lol...I guess you are saying you're having fun talking wreckless then...okay lol.
The thing is, people like you are whats wrong with boxing today. You allow the powers that be to keep doing what they are doing. If nobody speaks out against crap like DLH-Pac, and the other things wrong in the sport today, then that trend will only continue. Everyone will "division shop" just looking for the payday. GBP is already talking about having JMM fight Hatton next. How does that clear up 135? Legacy doesnt seem to matter anymore. Hagler could have said "I aint fighting Mugabi, cause theres no money in it", but he didnt. There seems to be this attitude today that as long as a fight makes money, then its perfectly ok. When did boxing get the WWF attitude? But clowns like you allow it to continue. So pay your $54.95 for DLH-Pac, and keep quiet with the rest of the sheep. you just dont get it. I've wasted enough time......
Hey I'm not taking any context out of what Nate wanted to bring out. I didn't say he is wrong . . . in fact I said he might be speaking his heart out . . . the way he feels . . . all I'm saying is . . . I'm not with him on this "race" issue . . . because I don't play the race issue. :yep You are talking of who's gonna filled the void of Hagler, Leonard, Hearns etc etc etc . . . like you said time changes. Now a days . . . fighters reach certain stature based on his Ring performance, who he fights and the results and his promoter, his promoter's influence and connections . . . but not because of the color of his skin. That's how I see it. :deal
no, I wasnt referring to you, I was referring to the OP who posts "Nate thinks black fighters are discriminated against" or whatever he said, but didnt put the conversation in the proper context.
That's a long litany . . . but reading it . . . only proves my point. Nate was talking of how hard it is being a black fighter and here you are saying that Pavlik was rejected by HBO because he was white. You keep saying bull**** in al your post . . . well Pavlik being rejected by HBO because he is white is the biggest bull**** I've heard today. You are fast to justify HBO's rejection because of the color of his skin . . . any concrete proof on this? Like what I said in the other post . . . it's more on the fighter's performance and his promoters' connection and influence . . . but not because of the fighters skin color. Racism and discrimination is everywhere . . . and the victims are from all races . . . not just one specific race.
I never said black fighters get discriminated against, my whole point was really about the boxing public's perception of fighters, exclusively black fighters. I think that the boxing public really seems to denigrate black boxers in the sport, mainly by excessively tearing them down if they are successful. This is talking about today, not yester year and not the business side.
You're a clown! Mike didn't get respect? Ali, Ray Leonard, Heans, Hagler, LL, Robinson, Toney, Jones, Hill....My god...what kind of Crack are you smoking? Its gotta be some new government produced super Crack to be as high as you are.:smoke
It's not that they priase them b/c they are such fluid and skilled boxers...it's the heart and will they show in the ring that touches a nerve with fans of boxing! If you are a fan of boxing you are about the warrior mentality, the will and determination of a prize fighter or the feeling you get seeing someone come back from sure defeat leaving everything in the ring. And Jermain was HIGHLY touted before he lost drew with Winky.
