A couple years ago, before weightclass-jumping became all the rage, I would idly think about this matchup and immediately dismiss it as a foolish flight of fancy. Not terribly implausible now that this could materialize in the next year or two, depending on how things play out - as both are campaigning at 140. Kendall's bigger and younger, Nate's probably the better all-around fighter and arguably has more career momentum, currently being on the hotter streak. Say Campbell gets by Bradley and Holt picks up a good win - maybe the Kotelnik/Khan victor or a rubbermatch with Torres. Who does your head tell you and who does your heart tell you? For me it's close on both fronts but head probably leans slightly toward a motivated Kendall and heart slightly towards the hungrier Nate.
Diaz was supposed to retire Nate. And I was NEVER one of Torito's supporters, but still he was a more proven commodity at the time he fought Galaxxxy than Timothy is now. I'm a believer in Bradley, I really feel he can be the goods, but we've seen him a handful of times, as opposed to the years of scouting we had on Diaz. He beat a scared old Witter, an overmatched Cherry (a guy I've sung the praises of, but let's be honest, we're talking about an ESPN gatekeeper level fighter), and didn't so much win his last fight as Kendall lost it. Not to take away, like I said, I think he's a great work in progress with lots of potential. But I'm just not ready to take away any chance from Campbell. That would be unwise IMO.
It would be to easy to tear into Nate's resume and destroy it. The man can't win a UD anymore. IMO he's gonna make it a fight but the young lion is something special.
If he doesn't retire after Bradley whoops him, Holt would destroy Nate. He's got the power to hurt Nate and the speed to catch him with a counter that would put his lights out. Nate is too small IMO. They both fought Isaac Hlathwayo. Nate couldn't put a dent in him, he was way too big. But Holt dismantled him and hurt him multiple times throughout the fight. He lasted all 12 rounds but he got put on the canvass 3 times and hurt badly on a number of different occasions.
Well, common opposition can be a useful analytical tool but it's also easy to get carried away with it. How would you see Holt-Funeka going down? :think
Well I've only seen him in the Nate fight and the Raheem fight, but I'd take Holt by KO. I think he can catch and hurt him and I don't think Funeka punches as hard as his record might suggest.
