i think he has a point to a degree but i think the real answer is to be more loose with open scoring. why is there never a 10-7 round? and why does it have to be a serious beating for 10-8 rounds?
I agree with Nate Diaz, every fighter should fight to finish the fight... by that I dont mean go all out crazy attack with no thought for defense... I mean always be looking to get the KO or sub rather than seeing out the clock because in a real fight its win or lose, no time limits... MMA is the closest we`ve got to real fighting, the last thing we want is for it to become too much like a game, its for FIGHTERS.
Less rounds and longer rounds means each round must be scrutinised more. Especially in a more dynamic sport. Half points should be considered but you don't want to keep changing it or people won't understand it. At the moment, it's 3-5 battles. Whoever wins more, wins the more. Depends if you look at MMA like a sport or still want to retain some purity and rawness of it beign a fight.
Yeah as I poitned out in the K1 thread I think a major fault with MMA scoring isnt just the crteria but the fact that 99% of rounds are 10-9 due to the fear of a draw. They need to do something to up the number of 10-8 rounds and perhaps introducemore 10-10 rounds, either have extension rounds or judges picking a winner looking back on the whole fight in the event of a draw. You can talk about valuing damage more but alot of the time there are rounds where there simpley isnt any dished out, what we need is not only the criteria improved but guys rewarded for near finishes with 10-8's.
heres an idea maybe dana should offer cash incentives for fighters to stay on thier ****ing feet and end the fight by striking
Um you may not have noticed, but isnt there a sport dedicated to that already. It's called boxing. You may have heard of it :thumbsup
