Brother of Tony Tubbs. Big guy with a big punch. Never seemed to get into ideal shape and also had some gaps of inactivity though. Wonder if he had the potential to be a bit better

    Didn't he beat Corrie Sanders?

I never knew he was Tony's brother.

I always heard he suffered from sparring partner syndrome. Too bad he didn't take the sport more seriously.

Tubbs went 18-4 as a pro. Won 14 by KO and lost two by stoppage.

Of his wins, only four came against fighters with winning records when he fought them:

    Sim Warrior (1-0, Tubbs’ debut)

    Corrie Sanders (23-0)

    Martin Foster (11-6-1)

    West Turner (17-7)

Of those four, only two (Sanders and Turner) finished their careers with winning records.

Eleven of his wins came against fighters with three wins or fewer.

There’s not a lot to discuss.

The question is not about what he actually accomplished but what he might have accomplished had he been better trained and more active. He clearly had power and beat an undefeated Corrie Sanders decisively. His career though short wasn’t that bad

Found a pretty good interview with him online:

He made a good living sparring with Mike Tyson.

In fairness it was a pretty devastating knockout against Sanders.

Big slow guy with a heavy punch if he should happen to catch you with it. Maybe if he trained harder he'd have been a big fast guy with a heavy punch. Yes, he could have been better.

I think he was one of Tyson's main sparring partners. He chose sparring over pro fights from what I know.

This appears to be the case. I remember seeing him fight Jorge Valdes. Valdes just got in close, smothered Tubbs, and outworked him for ten rounds. Tubbs almost seemed content with that...like he was just going through the motions. Reminds me a bit of Rafael Butler. He also managed to lose a decision to Eddie Gonzales, that being the only win for Gonzales in a span of 13 fights. Judging by the Sanders fight though, it looked like he had some real power.
