Fonfara landed some heavy shots all night and cleverly took them as a very light refreshment.

So maybe "bomber" Bellew does "carry power", but Nate's chin is uncrackable by mere mortals (it needs a Kovalev to make it happen).

 Clev didn't let us down lep, he proved his meddle and schooled Fonfara early, granted we both lost on our pick, but it doesn't bother me as much when I'm partially vindicated by it.

I also thought it was a draw, but of course it was in Chicago so.....

I'd love to see a rematch after Fonfara chased Superpimp into retirement or back to the brothel

it is good to see nath resemble more and more the tough journeyman that he had always been without help from wassen.

he clapped like a good journeyman after his defeat to fonfara

hopefully this will be the last we see of that godawful pitter patter "punch" technique onto peoples forearms, that looks like he must have learned from an Abbot and Costello movie.

fortunately hes still young enough to get on with the career in offices eating doughnuts that hes built for.

shame he had to con his welsh countrymen out of money wassenstyle before he did it. Perhaps he'd make a good car salesman.

a tad unfair though - given he did step up to face kovalev and not wait till the best had turned 40something.

Question- how many 40somethings did Calzaghe fight, and what % of those went on to win world titles Berol?

Cleverly is the kind of fighter that likes to stand back and admire his work while the other guy is getting busy loading up on him, breaking his fkng nose and stealing rounds. A good chin but just not destructive enough.

I've always said that Clev was a journeyman. The Gary Lockett of the LHW division.

this thread is not about calzaghe have some respect HANDMAN.

but if you really want the answer (apologies to other readers who have to put up with Hans question) its jones (weeks shy of 40) and Hopkins. The other greats of the ring hadn't turned 40something at the time or he would have fought them too. Calzaghe is the only titlist in history I can think of who waited for such a thing to happen - a true first by joe there.

after that rude interruption we can now get back to Nath.

The Kovalev fight made him seem more chinny than he really is, it's just that Kovalev really does hit "that" hard. Even iron chinned fighters like Pascal succumbed to his power.

Cleverly has found his level though. He has ability, he has quick hands and is quite athletic but he doesn't have the skills. Too many have mistaken his speed for skills, take away his speed and what you have a very ordinary, high guard come forward fighter. He fights like a guy much shorter than he is by crouching down and looking to exchange in close, anyone with a bit of boxing skill and a solid defence will give him another loss. Whenever Fonfara boxed and kept him at a distance Cleverly looked very ordinary.

Cleverly needs a new coach because what he is doing is not working and will not work at this level.
