the fight with mcintosh should tell us a lot, although cleverly has the speed and skills mcintosh can bang a bit but is quite slow, nathan wins on paper but you never know there could be quite a few shakey moments.
there is not domestic fight out here for him after McIntosh. Bellew, Jeffries, Groves or Sutherland if they end up at light heavy will not be challending for at least 1 or 2 years. Maybe a fight with Ovil McEnzie would be good. After that he needs to got european.
He did well over a a shopworn Tony Oakey. I like what i see, but am reserving judgement until he is in the trenches. McIntosh is crude, but he is strong and will look to land bombs.
ok so how does he trouble him then? break it down for us mcintosh is a athletic guy who's in good shape, but that doesn't win fights the guy is neanderthal in his approach, he's so fundamentally flawed if cleverly can't beat him then he might as well give up any hopes of going anywhere in this game
I agree McIntosh shouldn't trouble Cleverly too much. He's a big strong lad but Cleverly should be a level above him really.
If McIntosh troubles Cleverly he will struggle agaist Bellew who is a bigger puncher than McIntosh and a far superior fighter. Clev beats DM via UD or TKO.
I said trouble, not win necessarily. I think that you are over-egging it here...McIntosh isn't that bad a fighter, he is unorthodox rather than Neanderthal. I haven't seen how Cleverley reacts when he has been tagged because I don't think that he has been yet, not properly.... McIntosh with his unorthodox approach will catch him and then we will see how good Cleverly is. Its not science, there is no analysis required.
I'll be disapointed if Clev can't stop McIntosh nevermind win. He's that much more skilled, he has the work-rate and accuracy, its time to prove his power against a non-Afrobum. Perfect chance for him.
He looks good,i thought he did well against Oakey and proved there that he is ready to move up a level.I think he has a bright future.
with all due respect i think you might be the one "over-egging" it, have you seen this guy fight? i can see why some people would get slightly confused and label him as unorthodox with the sugar coating of ingles style (switch hitting etc) but he's just a strong, athletic geezer lacking all the basics, he's got no set up, no head movement, very poor on the inside, sweet science to him is what adultery is to marriege. Now, cleverly is not exactly sweet pea reincarnated but he's fundamentally sound and its clear mcIntosh can't hold a candle to him.
Nobody knows. Clev was shaken up a few times earlier in his career at 168lbs. Since he's gone to 175 he's barely been hit let alone shaken, unfortunately that has coincided with some rather questionable opposition. Oakey aside, who was never a puncher. Still a question mark.
