I see Calzaghe still doesn't get the respect he deserves.. even after almost 5 years out of the ring I would favor Calzaghe against Cleverly in the ring. Cleverly in incredibly average, and nothing like ATG future HOF Clazaghe.

of coruse calzaghe would destroy Clev, its only Baileyboy who harks on about Clev being great (though he has shut up recently on that score I notice wonder why)

what exactly is great about calzaghe? He doesn't qualify as ATG having done nothing great, beaten no one great let alone dare face them, and not possessing any great ability apart from awesome lung power, so hes merely HOF (which is pretty good of course).

Cleverly tried to pick up on certain aspects of Joe's style, but Joe was better at just about everything by a considerable margin.

tbf, Clev has one thing better than Joe and that was the guts to fight someone good early on.

Or perhaps that was just bad judgement.

Although they have a lot of simularities... Welsh, WBO belt, bum o/t month club, style, trainer etc. comparing Cleverly with Slappy Joe is an insult to the latter imo.

Calzaghe was so much better as Cleverly.

If he was a modern day Calzaghe, he would of Lace'd Kovalev and still be undefeated. :deal

Only one Calzaghe in a lifetime...just like Ali.

lacy and ko4clev are worlds apart. lacy lucked into a belt, and lost it almost instantly, and gets beat by journeymen all the time. ko4clev is unifying them.

but there is only one of joe true, only joe, to date is the titlist who waited till the legends were turning 40something before coming out of hiding and challenging them. In that respect he is unique, I can think of no one who was that cowardly.

also, clev stepped up a decade earlier than joe, so no, clev was years ahead of joe.
