Didn't know that. He hurt it on Karpency's lantern jaw? Maybe Fonfara has glass hands? Still, injury or not, a world class pro boxer shouldn't really be going life-and-death with a male nurse. Karpency actually looked like he was on his way to winning via KTFO before the shoulder injury.

I watched Fonfara's fight against the Stevenson earlier and he was competitive throughout. Even during the rounds he lost he was catching him with stiff rights the occasional left hook, but I feel he could've really helped his cause by throwing combinations instead of singles all the time. His trainer was urging him to do so from quite early into the fight but he didn't actually really start to heed his advice until about round 8. He started to have some nice success around that point and it would've been interesting to see how things would've panned out had he done so much earlier on.

Interestingly enough both Fonfara and Cleverly are tall and lanky LHWs who turned pro at the same age ( 18 ) and at much lower weights. Fonfara weighed 145¼ for his debut and Cleverly was 152 to for his. Fonfara turned pro just under a year after Cleverly did too.

I don't expect to see Superman as a champ much longer...either Fonfara beats him or obviously Kovalev would.

    Clev > Karpency > Dawson

Just because glass chinned Dawson schooled Adamek don't get your knickers in a twist.

I wish Cleverly the best of luck but he is getting Ko'd or at least knocked on his ass

People acting like Fonfara is a massive puncher. Cleverly has only ever been down against Kovalev, and Fonfara has a KO rate of 52%

Some of you need to watch kovalev vs cleverly again.

Cleverly took huge shots and stupidly just stood there with no footwork.

At 200lbs he sat on the ropes for 3 rounds completely gassed, not throwing a single punch, against bellew. Bellew couldn't even stun him. Bellew isn't a great fighter but has some decent KOs at 175 and 200

Cleverly has a good chin. Fonfaras chin isn't bad.

The Dawson that Stevenson beat may have been shot, hard to say he's always been horribly inconsistent. One fight schooling Adamek, another struggling with Johnson, then beating Tarver twice only to lose to Pascal, then dominate Hopkins only to get taken apart by Ward.

Dawson at his best was way better than Cleverly ever was or could ever hope to be. But Dawson at his worst was beatable, but would still likely beat Cleverly.

Cleverly is talented but has serious flaws. Little head movement, lack of real mobility due to his wide stance, stays in range too much and is too easy to hit. Prime Dawson would school him with his movement.

Cleverly always just stands there with no foot work, for such a tall guy he fights like someone 4 inches shorter. His style was always going to see him beaten by a big hitter like Kovalev.

Style wise Fonfara suits him more and it will be a very competitive fight.

Nice fight. Fonfara is probably going to be the favorite but I think Cleverly pulls and upset here.

Yes and that was back when Kovalev was letting his hands and the combinations go more freely as opposed to the more measured one of late. Krusher was in proper Krusher mode back then and Cleverly took a lot of seriously heavy leather before he wilted. Losing by stoppage to a two-fisted power puncher whose hands are as heavy as Kovalev's is hardly indicative of a weak chin. I can't stand Bellew but if there's one thing he can do it's bang and Cleverly ate his shots up fine in both their fights. Cleverly has a solid chin.

Ever hear of a guy developing throughout his career? Watch and learn. Clev will be on the floor at some point unless he runs the whole time. If they exchange, Fonfara is better.
