I'd rather poke my eyes out than watch Paul Smith.

    Round 1

Gavin is touching down with his right jab and keeping it fixed on Mutley's chiseled abs. Now big left hands come sailing over the top and just blow the win by Mutley's chin. Mutley is keeping his hands up high and trying to swat down at Gavin's jabs. Big left hand from Gavin catches Mutley square on the jaw and knocks him back into the ropes. Mutley shakes ihs head. Gavin is extending his right jab out from his hip. Stiff one to the middle. Another stiff body jab by Gavin. Another left to the face. Mutley paws with his left jab but isn't throwing anything with power or committing meaningfully to the jab.

    10-9 Gavin

    Round 2

Good 1-2 by Gavin. Mutley tries to swat at him, and failing that grab. Gavin just keeps knocking him back into the ropes with good left hands behind the jab. Mutley is scratching his own back on the turnbuckle, not eager to come back out to meet Gavin. The referee is very unforgiving of clinches and warns them both for their heads coming near each other. Wow, very aggressive ref - he grabbed them both by the scruff of the neck and almost bomped their heads together to make his point...about...heads coming together. :blood

Gavin lands a good right hook down low. Mutley is keeping his hands up and conceding the lower kingdom. Hard left to the belly. Gavin leans over into a half-crouch and watches Mutley, looking for free spaces to land his right jab. Mutley gets knocked back into the ropes by a left to the gut.

Two rounds in the books...and hopefully the next 10 aren't like that. Mutley not doing anything.

    Round 3

Good hard right jab to the body by Gavin. The southpaw stance combined with Gavin's lean-over keeping his head off the target line seems to have Mutley completely dumbfounded and sputtering for answers. Gavin is caught with a clipping shot and the crowd whistles but it didn't actually have much impact. Gavin keeps flicking out his right jab and is coaxing Mutley into lifting his gloves up to clear a path for the left to the body. Mutley dishes out a right hand up close but Gavin simultaneously turns and steps completely out of the way of it (while throwing a right jab). Gavin is clearly outworking Mutley and isn't even throwing all that much.

30-27 Gavin, not exactly a thriller but Gavin is looking like a very good boxer in there.

    Round 4

Gavin is leaning over with his spine bent and his right side facing Mutley, flipping jabs up and down at him. A trickle of left hands follow. Head clash. Mutley knocked to the ropes by a left. Mutley stays outside, sizing Gavin up with his finger nowhere near the trigger. Gavin reaches out and phantom-hooks the air near Mutley's face, measuring. left hand to the chest. Mutley throws a 1-2 now, and Gavin steps aside from it. Gavin keeps Mutley uninvolved with the steady right jab. Big left to punctuate.
