plenty were saying cleverly would rule the division. this site was full of deluded brits.

 

Did people really think Cleverly would win?

He couldn't even convincingly beat a LHW Bellew.


TBF, Ward did the same to Kovalev and exposed his hype......
I think a younger Hopkins would've too.

 

Badly managed imo, the Murat win was good, he should never have messed around at cruiserweight and fought the completely wrong fight against Kovalev

He was great to watch at times, some lovely combinations and I did think he would go far but he took too much punishment instead of boxing smart

clev would have been a good euro champ without cardiff protection

yeh but the new calzaghe was destroyed easily, made the mistake of stepping up to an elite, one who wasnt injured. the new calzaghe tag was unfair on nath in one way, cos joe wouldnt have got in the ring with an uninjured elite.

 

I agree Bute was better he also came back and had good performances vs Jack and Degale.
both fighters were horrible against relentless pressure. any of the fighters at light heavy with less than 20 fights have to see how they match up with someone coming right at them. some seem great but they just cant handle inside fights.

 

The bumbling ref carry and the penous thrust will live long in the memory. Unfortunately

you gotta wonder whether he was waving it off for a Kov stoppage or to award Nath the win on some fictitious foul, that cheating cardiff ref....that he then realised he wouldnt get away with.
