Round 2

Fielding jabs his way in, and hooks off the jab. Tolan backs up out of range, and then gets to circling left with his arm held out sideways as a buffer. Tolan tries to poke up a few jabs but can't get anywhere near Fielding for fear of those heavy power punching combos. Fielding throws a few long rights but Tolan ducks right under him and leans his shoulder up against Fielding's crotch. Lots of low grabbing by Tolan. Hideous round so far, mostly Tolan's fault but Fielding not finding a way to cope and be too effective. Tolan makes it messy, waving both arms around and flopping against Fielding, pushing him back to the ropes. Fielding tries to get a few shots off between very frequent tie-ups. Right hand at the bell by Fielding.

20-18 Fielding

 

They probably informed the camps at some point in the locker room in the last couple of hours, during the broadcast.

It's pretty common practice for undercard bouts on televised cards. The scheduled rounds listed on Boxrec and other places are never set in stone. 8 rounders can become 6 rounders and vice versa; 6 can become 4 etc.

 

Round 3

Lots of arms flapping together and heads clashing as they clasp each other around the neck and grapple roughly. This sucks. Tolan flashes a few high jabs and then dives in to grab Fielding low. Rocky tries a right uppercut and short straight left hand in combination but Tolan rushes right in and grabs him low again. Fielding starts to land a few good hammering blows while twisting Tolan into the ropes in a clinch, but they get broken up as the referee spreads them apart with his hands. Fielding is landing a good right in every flurry between the clinches, but Tolan is diving and grabbing every time he gets hit. After one final break, with about twenty seconds left in the round Fielding smartens up and takes a step back, looking to jab Tolan out and prevent another clinch. Tolan tosses out a long hook and lands on him from outside.

There was no reason for that to ever be scheduled for 12. Neither he nor Matthysse was defending any sort of title. :conf

 

Round 4

Tolan is popping up jabs at the taller man from outside, and shrugs petulantly at him when Fielding just stays outside slipping them. Both are warned for leading with their heads when they come together (Tolan going up on his toes trying to land head shots, and Fielding coming down to meet him with an anticipatory preemptive embrace). Fielding is circling left and jabbing, and gets a quick 1-2 off. Tolan paws with his jab from outside, miles away from Fielding. Long left hook by Fielding. Tolan holds his left arm out straight and nudges Fielding's right arm aside with it, trying to rush inside. Hooking shots to the face by Fielding as they circle and turn in step together.

Round 5

Tolan gives an undulating tentacle wave of his left jab, not making any serious attempt to score with it. Fielding is holding him at bay with his much longer and straight jab. Nice outside boxing by the much taller and younger prospect. Good long left hook. Nice movement by Fielding. He's found his mojo now. Tolan grabs him low and is immediately peeled off by the ref. Another clinch. Fielding is giving up space again. Now the nice jab of Fielding reemerges, and he lands body shots before Tolan gets inside to hold. Fielding holds his left out, presenting the threat of the jab but instead throws a lead right hand over the top across Tolan's forehead. Tolan tilts his upper body from side to side on the outside, flicking his jab out in a "talk to the hand" manner from too far outside.
