I actually think Bellew was winning on points against McKenzie going into the poor finish. He'd clawed it back and was using his length far better. Then, against, that was Ovill McKenzie and not Nathan Cleverly. It's not entirely out of the question though that Bellew is one of those fightes who can get badly hurt early but become harder to budge as fights go on. He certainly has top-notch powers of recovery, even taking into account his level of opposition thus far. Clev is not the man to take his legs away from him completely with one shot IMO, so as I say, I'm going for Clev to stun and punch his way to a referee stoppage.
full credit to tony bellew, he's been talking the talk for a while, and when he got an unexpected chance, he stepped right up and took it. he's got balls, that has to be admired. prediction, cleverly, i see it being a bit like cleverly's fight with danny mcintosh, bellew's brave but cleverly's a level above tony bellew.
I'd like to see Bellew win tbh', after his whole "i'll save the show" mindset and wanting Cleverly when he aint even prepared for him. But deep down i think Cleverly will box Bellew's head off. The thing what worries me is, we know Bellew had a fight lined up for the next month or so, and his weight doesn't seem to be an issue, but if this fight start's heading over 8-9 rounds is Bellew fit enough?
For sure , Cleverly Bellew , De Gale Groves all weighing in , it will be ****in grade A stuff , De Gale not wanting to be out done by Bellew , Cleverly and Groves giving it back its gonna be great :good
yeah,if you can get there. I think I'll have to catch it on Sky Sports in a pub in Watford on the way down to London.
Definitely considering going, would love to try and get a pic with a couple of them. Have to go on my own though :-(
Murat is a plodder..the conversation was about bellew having superior footwork to cleverly which simply is not true. And the guy in my avatar is the greatest and most well rounded fighter of all time, in my opinion.
As I say, I think Beeston was comparing Bellews footworks to Murats, apologies if I;m wrong. Well-rounded? arguably. Greatest of all time? Not in my opinion.
Regardless of the outcome, I'm nothing but proud of Tony for taking on this challenge at short notice - the whole family are. I'm obviously biased so there will be no predictions from me. He's never mentioned anything about being on standby he's just been focussed on Mckenzie in July. What I will say is that since his hand injury he has kept extremely fit, both diet and training wise. He doesn't balloon between fights even though he's a big lad. Of course in an ideal world you'd want 12 weeks, but world title fights against your biggest rival don't come every day. He respects Clev (always has) but he knows he has plenty of flaws and he's always been very confident of beating him if they ever met. The buzz around this fight in one day on twitter, here, boxrec shows I'd anyone doubted that boxing is still relevant, nothing quite captures the heart of the sporting public like a genuine big fight!! All the best our kid
