Mate ive been going to weigh ins up and down the country on my own for years !!!!! its ****in great My daughter is 5 months old maybe she can start coming with me :good
I actually think Bellew does have better footwork than Cleverly. An example would be the way he steps around to throw his hooks like the one he dropped ovill with.
from what i have seen there footwprk is on a par. bb said that bellew has shown glimpses of great footwork and slipping shots. i must have gone to the loo at those point during the fights i have seen of him.
Ive tried as hard as I can to lock down the decades which the following fighters did their 'greatest' work, or at least that they had one substantial win/performance in there. 1.Harry Greb (20s) 2.Henry Armstrong (30s) 3.Ray Robinson (40s/50s) 4.Ezzard Charles (40s/50s) 5.Sam Langford (00s) 6.Roberto Duran (70s/80s) 7.Benny Leonard (10s) 8.Willie Pep (40s) 9.Muhammad Ali (60s/70s) 10.Archie Moore (40s/50s/60s)
Gotta be sensible and take Cleverly here. I really do hope I turn to be totally and utterly incorrect though.
I think it's safe to say that Bellew has been handed an opportunity of a life time here. Clev has trained for a world title, if Bellew somehow beats him what a statement he will make.
i would say thats worse thing to do. better of not doing soemthing than doing it badly. if bellew has been trained in germany he would be a much better fighter. tall rangy fighter, quick hands and power. he would do well with a european style.
I was actually comparing him to Cleverly in terms of their footwork.... it was kinda obvious to state that Tony has better feet than Murat. My reasoning is that he's comfortable both going forward and whilst giving ground (he's actually better giving ground) whilst Cleverly doesn't appear capable of giving ground to an opponent. Lots of fighters are superior in a particular department to another despite being inferior or less proven. Ricky Hatton had better footwork than Lennox Lewis but wasn't anywhere near in terms of the whole package. Flea's point about Bellew and the rolling of punches is correct - he does it reasonably well, but he's not James Toney and never will be. The key for me is that he knows when and where to do it. You aren't likely to see him using it Kevin Mitchell style and being twatted on the ropes.
I think the odds are completely stacked in Cleverlys favour. I just hope that it isnt too much of a struggle with the weight and that he gets to show what he is about and he isnt on the end of a poor referee stoppage early on. Bellew just has to wind Clev up get him to stand and trade wich i have a suspicion he will want to do because he will be frustrated after Braehmers pullout and his dislike for Bellew. If Tony could just land that one shot and drop Cleverly early it could make it interesting and I think Tony's warrior spirit will come out in this one.
