Nathan Cleverly...Was there ever an explanation for his one-armed bandit routine?

No pro wants to lose in front of their countrymen especially us Welsh :yep but to tell the truth anyone who knows a bit about the sport had alarm bells ringing in their ears when the fight was announced , personally i thought at the time he should have fought Jurgen the German to see if he was truly @ world class level but he got handed his title if we are being honest and his biggest win up until the Kovalev fight was another imo fringe world class fighter in Bellew and it could be argued he lost that fight as well ( not by me as i thought he done the cleaner work after Tony had abandoned his jab and nicked the decision due to his conditioning ) .

 

It was bizzare in the second Bellew fight how he just jabbed and nothing else. It almost seemed to me like he didnt really want to win and just go the distance. Bellew didnt look good to me either.
Sometimes a fighter never seems the same after a loss and I think the Kovalev loss did damage.
I think Nathans lost his confidence. He didnt sound confident at all when talking about Braehmer.

 

Well to be the best he had to fight the best and there's few arguments that he was a ducker in all honesty I think he would have had more joy fighting Stevenson I ain't saying he'd best him but he would have given him a better go style wise than Bellew did imo saying that Bellew probably would have done better v Kovalev that Nath did , who knows for sure ?

Thats right, he won the first fight with an injury and took some massive blows without flinching.
Its amusing how many used to discredit Cleverly, yet so many of the top LHWs that are rated seem to fight his former foes

Cleverly beats Krasniqi who Braehmer has just fought


Cleverly had Brahmer and Shumenov back out of facing him and some who he beat were or became top 10 rated in Bellew, Murat, Karpency

 

Against the elite of the division I agree but there's a living and a decent boxing career a level below .
