If it wasn't clear before, many judges clearly don't seem to be able to withhold their bias when it comes to scoring fights.

Last night's Linares (VEN) vs Mitchell (UK) was another clear example of this. With only the neutral judge Pasquale Procopio (CAN) scoring it the average fan saw it, 86-84 after 9 rounds. While the Venezualan judge saw it level at 85-85, and of course the infamous British judge Ian John-Lewis taking the cake scoring it 88-82 for his countryman.

Now the nationalistic judges cancelled eatchother out in this one, but in many cases there are 2 or even 3 judges from one country (becasue it's held there) and not too long back there was a case in wich they actually wanted to force 3 local judges onto a foreign fighter while the contract was agreed on neutral ones.

Bottom line, these guys are supposed to judge neutrally in every case. I know that's impossible, because it's clearly not how the human mind works.
But it seems like the worst homescorers in the business get the most and best gigs just because they're known to not give the visiting fighter anything remotely resembling a fair shake.

    Nicolas Hidalgo: 5-4 Linares
    Ian John-Lewis: 7-2 Mitchell
    Pasquale Procopio: 5-4 Mitchell

I think what British judge did is outrageous, the Venezuelan judge cannot be flamed too much over 1 round if you believe the 5-4 Mitchell card was fair.

The Venezuelan guy wasn't too bad, although a little bit in favor for his man. But the British one was way out of line, like he has been many times before. That's what this thread is about, the 2 opposite judges were no less than 6 points apart after 9 finished rounds in wich one was a knockdown round wich only could be scored one way (unless you're IJL of course :!:).
So 8 rounds to swing score, and 6(!!!) points apart...

I don't understand why there are not 3 neutral judges in a World Title fight like this. We've seen a lot of robberies because of nationalistic judges.
I really think that is one of the changes that is needed in boxing!

Imagine you had 3 British judges here, that's a Mayweather fight.

I only saw this fight from midway 7th round so have no idea how the fight had been panning out, looking at Mitchells face he look like a guy who was a good 5 or 6 rounds up.

Biased judging happens everywhere, i really dont see them getting paid to be unfair or even want to be unfair in their scoring but just like some fans get caught up in biased commentry (cough cough Jim Watt) some judges get caught up in the roars of a home crowd.

Not that im defending it, its getting worse. Its happening everywhere Germany and the UK are getting embarrassing at times and as a Brit i would rather my man lose than get a total gift.

It is definatly something that needs sorting out, when ive watched a fight and seen the scorecards i come straight on here to see what normal unbiased ppl are scoring it. Even on here cards are all over the place but eventually a poll goes up and the majority of folk tend to share similarish cards.

It really is amazing how childish these grown men (most quite old) who judge really are. I've been flagrantly rooting for Linares to beat Mitchell for the last 5 months and even I had it a draw going into the 10th.

Somebody has to tell these hometown judges that punches on the air, gloves nd arms dont count. I cant understand how did they manage to give Mitchell any of the first 4 rounds or the 9th. In fact if Mitchell had ever had Linares in such trouble as Mitchell himself was in the 9th a british stoppage and a a new world champion were in order, same with Michell's face injuries, if it were Linares the one with such a pizza face the fight would have been stopped around the 8th.

With no supervision nor discipline from the Athletic Commission these home town decisions will not stop.Clearly this English judge had an agenda going into this fight and should be told to explain this score card-but as usual nothing will be done.Pathetic really.

The IJL card was just disgusting, he is an awful referee in my opinion and an awful judge.
He shouldn't be involved with British Boxing anymore, he has too much history of this sort of stuff.

I had Mitchell ahead but only because of the knockdown, I wouldn't have argued with anybody having it even or Linares up a round, it was a close fight and some of the rounds were hard to score but a 6 point lead to Mitchell is just so far away from any reality IJL should be asked to explain himself.

As a Brit I am getting rather p***ed off with these ridiculous cards, dodgy stoppages and outright bias commentaries.
We used to make fun of Germany and still do "you need a KO to get a draw over there" but it is like that here now and it is not right.

I had the fight even, but I am biased as I'm a fan of Linares but I think he stole those early rounds even if they were close.
