Out of couriousity I was checking out the racial diversity of Timothy Bradley's fights with Marquez and Pacquiao. I was thinking to myself why Nevada who has a history of judging for either the name fighter or the aggressive fighter one or the other, did'nt do either in competitve fights involving Marquez and Pacquiao vs Bradley. I checked out who the judges were and come to find out they were all Americans. Nevada and other states really need to look into diversifying their pool of judges. Nevada has judges that are non-American, but for some reason they chose to go all-American in a fight that involved one of the fighters being American. Honestly, if the fight were held in the Phillipines, how would Bradley feel with an all Phillipine panel of judges? Or an all Mexican panel in Mexico fighting a Mexican???
I always found that it strange that foreign fighters almost always must contend with with all american judges (even for title fights) in the US. Look to change the thread title if possible though.
Well, its not about race, but nationality, so something along those lines. Dont think you can change it though :think
I think you're right. I dont think the judges chunned Marquez or Pacquiao because they were Phillipine or Mexican. I do think though that an American judge will subconciously side with the American fighter if the round is close and up for grabs. This makes it absolutely unfair to the foreign fighter as he has an uphill battle to climb. Any round thats even is going to go against him.
Just checked to see who the judges were in Roberto Duran's fights with Leonard, Hagler, and Hearns while fighthing in the US. Everyone of the judges was a neutral judge from another country. Its how it should be imo! What the hell is going on in Vegas, what happened to the idea of having neutraly based judges assigned to a fight?
