They have all of the casinos that feature boxing why not control the sanctioning organizations? It makes sense.

A new sanctioning body!
SNBC sanctions first title fight!
Sovereign Nations Boxing Council (SNBC) debuts this Saturday when cruiserweights Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey and Eddie “The Iron Man” Gutierrez fight for the first SNBC title headlining a special card, promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc., at 4 Bears Casino in New Town, North Dakota. SNBC is a fledging professional boxing organization linking federally recognized tribes throughout the United States and Canada.

“SNBC has been created to draw awareness that tribal casinos host numerous boxing events every year and our new organization unites tribes in the sport by having our own championship belt.” SNBC president Pat Packineau explained. “We’re excited to host the first SNBC title fight at 4 Bears Casino.”

Godfrey and Gutierrez, both Native Americans, square-off in Saturday’s ten-round main event for the SNBC cruiserweight title. Godfrey (17-1, 10 KOs), is rated #3 by the WBC and he is the reigning NABF cruiserweight champion, while Gutierrez (15-5-1, 6 KOs), is a former Illinois State cruiserweight title-holder. “Fighting for the SNBC title is special for me because I’m almost 100-percent Native American,” Godfrey said. “I am Native American and we don’t get much press. I’m proud to be boxing for the Sovereign Nations Boxing Council’s first title. It is recognizing Native Americans in sports and I’m glad to be part of it.” Tickets are $20, $30 or $50 and are available by visiting www.4bearscasino.com.

no boxing organization makes sense its all just legal extortion the only difference between the mob in boxing back in the 50s and the abc gangsters of today is that the mob days were better. fans still knew who the best fighters in each division were.

nowadays its so confusing that average sports fans dont care anymore and thats wats killing the sport

Joe Hip was decent fighter, his bloodbath with Tommy Morrison was memorable.

This thread puts me in mind of somethin' I haven't thought about for a long time.

In the early '70s, had an amateur boxing team is South Queens -- mostly Irish and Italian kids.

Out of the blue, the meanest looking dude I'd ever seen -- made Charles Bronson look like a girl scout -- teardrop tattoo under his eye -- came into the gym.

He was an Apache Indian. Think Geronimo. What he was doin' in South Queens beats me.

Trained on our Golden Gloves team.

Freeze your blood just to look at him. If he'd only been a fraction as scary as fighter, he mighta won a title.

Here's a round as an example of what was a great fight on ABC's Wide World of Sports in 1995

I think it has to do with the fights taking place in an Indian casino rather than whether or not the participants are blood Indian.

Good, although I don't like sanctioning bodies it's good to see the different Nations coming together and working together to increase their promotions and the money they can pull in from it. The best boxer in my state is a Native American and a hell of a fighter so it's exciting to see them get more attention, hopefully.
