Apologies if this has been done before (I've only joined up recently). Naz should have fought for a world title at 122lbs. How does this young, hungry Naz get on against the likes of Barrera, Morales + PacMan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXpKr5gfj64
Even the Naz that lost to Barrera beats Pac and Marquez. I think all versions of him lose to Barrera, but he could have given him a better fight.
Thats utter nonsense. Naz is/was probably the BEST talent ever from British shores. He was absolutely phenomenal as a youngster and boasted a talent and style never ever seen before. The Naz that turned up for Barrera had 1 foot in retirement and was more interested in his hair cut.
Marquez would school him, though a prime Naz based on styles has a pretyy good shot against Pacquiao.
It's hard to say how Naseem would fare against the elite at 122. But based on styles, he had a good chance against all of them. Pacquiao because of his aggression and defensive liabilities, Morales because he's never been hard to draw into wars, and Barrera because of his in-your-face body punching approach at 122.
I think Hamed would have had a realistic chance against all but Marquez, but I'd make him the underdog against all four. As talented as Hamed was, he proved to be a frontrunner. Even if he did lure that version of MAB or Morales into a war, I just can't predict that he would be able to dig as deeply as either great warrior and win a long, grueling fight. Those guys specialized in those sorts of bouts, and the Prince did not. Pacquiao's lack of defense and poor balance might get him stopped, but keep in mind that 122 was his best weight as well. He had one-punch KO power and would push Hamed backward with blazing speed and relentless fury. That's the fight I'd most like to see among this combination of fighters.
I'd personally make him favourite against all three but Pac,Mab and Morales is an elite group so I'm sure Naz would pick up a defeat somewhere along the line. Pac would be the one least likely to beat Naz based purely on styles. I'd always fancy Marquez to school him however. Also you'll find that Naz is the most underated boxer on this site. You may of noticed from the enlightened posts that say he'd loose to all three.
What's problematic is that Hamed's resume is so inferior to that of these other fighters. They all have fights against each other to prove their excellence, while in Hamed's only encounter against that group, he got outclassed. Now, I agree that he was more focused earlier in his career, but there's no achievement on his record to suggest that he could beat true greats such as the aforementioned quartet. You have to take it on faith.
You think? Even now? Going head-up twice with a prime Pacquiao and even a somewhat past-it MAB speaks volumes to me. What do you like so much about Hamed's resume? Also, consider that even Steward said he wanted Hamed to avoid JMM.
I'd feel very confident in picking a prime Naz over Manny Pacquiao. And you can quote me on that. :hat
