What Nazim meant is that even though Pacquiao really isn't a 147-pound fighter (I think he can still make 135 without too much effort), another welterweight would not be able to tell if they fought him. Pac can hit like a welterweight and take punches from other welterweights.
:goodThanks.......I think Naz made it clear that you can't "EXPECT" to be facing a "small" fighter when facing a guy like PAC....no matter what his demensions say on paper....it's those intagibles that you can not measure with a ruler or scale.
Not sure, but I saw Rock Allen in an amateur bout years ago and he stole the show...a HUGE 141 pounder he was at the time. He literally was like a rock.
I think that is exactly right. THe thing is when that strengh advantage is on a more even playing field, we're going to see how good of a fighter he really is. Mayweather like Marquez before him isnt going to stand in front of Pac and try and outslug him or walk him down which is what all these other guys have tried to do. Going to be an interesting fight.
Naz is ****ing brilliant "Now, I'm gonna tell you, though. From Floyd's perspective: the minute you start talking about how small Pacquiao is, you're beat. I told Shane, "if you fight him, if anybody in the camp calls you bigger than Pacquiao, I'll put them out of the camp." I picked Pac against both Hatton and Cotto based on what I saw from them in the 24/7's when all they talked about is them being the bigger guy and implying they would knock Cotto out. They should have known better when they seen how good Pac looked at 147 after the DLH massacre. Hearing Naz talk like that and being smart enough to know not to fight Pac that way makes me really want to see Mosley vs Pac now.
Dont all athletes consume around the 6000 mark when training because they burn so much? Khan is on the same calorie intake.
not boxers. if they want to maintain or lose weight, sometimes they only eat less. pacquiao has to eat more because welter is not his natural fighting weight and he would deplete with the amount and pace of his training.
Very interesting stuff. I love these old school Philly trainers, trying to figure out exactly what they mean is like a zen koan. Bouie was even worse than Nazim. But if I'm interpreting him right, I agree completely that this fight is really a battle of minds. No offense to Manny, but the story of this fight is Mayweather's boxing IQ against Roach's. People have been wondering for years how to beat Floyd. I can't wait to see what Roach comes up with.
but on the real...Floyd is a bigger man than Pac ....if they had the same reach i'd pick Pac but they don't and Floyd is gonna pot shot with that jab all night and not get hit
