Lets say we do ignore more clean and effective punches and we use your kind of scoring system.

Fighter A could throw 30 and land 10 punches every round except the 11th and 12th while Fighter B throws 20 punches lands 5 in every round except the 11th and 12th.

Now in the 11th and 12th Fighter B finds his surge to go for the KO cause he knows hes behind as a result he throws 100 punches and lands 50 each round while fighter A trying to stay alive only outputs 10 thrown and 0 landed each round but manages to finish the fight.

    Compubox numbers

    Fighter A - Threw 320 Landed 100
    Fighter B - Threw 400 Landed 150

So by your system of scoring you would believe Fighter B wins the fight because he threw and landed more. You dont see anything wrong with this?

Punchstas should NEVER be the basis of scoring a fight.

I've kind of been thinking the same thing lately, Rudyard. He's obviously a significantly higher caliber fighter than Andy Lee, but I see the same problem in both of them- they just get hit too damn much because they like to fight. Margo's another one, and probably the more fitting comparison since both like to swarm and use their size advantage to impose on smaller fighters and don't mind getting hit in the process.

It makes for exciting, action-packed fights now...but a race car wears out faster than a Volvo. If he plans to have a successful career as a middleweight and retire with his faculties intact, he's got to "box" more. Start taking pages out of Hearns' book instead.

PW (really a middleweight) couldnt make 147 if you paid him 50 million, everyone who disagrees - you are pissing in the win.

DLH v. Whitaker (Whitaker landed more, lost decision - bad scoring)
DLH v. Mosely II (DLh landed more, lost decision, legit loss)
