Thats just rubbish. What punches did Joe land to warrant a wide UD like that? Have you even seen the fight? One judge scored it 114-113 to Hop. One had it 116-111 to Joe. Scoring is CLEARLY subjective, and in this fight almost to the point of being irrelavent.
Theres a few factors that still get to me about this fight, firstly was when Hopkins took the 'low blow' and took time out, people seem to forget about this and without this breather how would it have gone? Another problem is that people say Hopkins was hitting and not getting hit, sometimes yes but by holding and spoiling etc. This makes me laugh because Joe Cortez was reffing and when Hatton fought Mayweather he was dead against any sort of clinching but this time round it was fine. Bit of biased reffing there if you ask me. Everyone goes on about Hopkins age, yes was 43 at the time of the fight but not and old 43 in terms of boxing! Calzaghe was no spring chicken himself, had they of fought earlier in their careers they both had different styles so saying Hopkins pre 37 would school him isnt even comparable as Calzaghe was a different fight as well then. I cant remember exactly what i scored the fight and i cant be bothered to watch the fight again just to score it but i think i had Calzaghe up by 2 points. In terms of the video Richards is a very clever man and is brilliant at planning tactics, not to mention hes not bad at noticing dodgy handwraps!
