Cruz is getting closer with his own high jab over the nestled ight glove and into the chin of Smith, then slicing low with the right hand to the body. Smith is landing counters on the inside while turning, hooking Cruz in the head, but Cruz is getting in the better body work, finally (which Roach has been trying to claim since the beginning).

Smith is jabbing Cruz in the face while stepping around and ducks under a hooking flurry that brushes his back as Cruz flails his arms out in a churning, sweeping motion. Smith is landing counter jabs every time Cruz leads. Sloppy right hands by Cruz falling in. Smith easily steps left and rolls his shoulder, always in position to land the left jab. Cruz tries to jab with him but can't pin him down or touch his head cleanly as Smith curls up behind his shoulder. Counter 1-2 by Smith. Another. Another, Cruz stepping back. Cruz tries to squat in with a body shot and gets scraped with a hook atop the head.
