Anyone remember who imported Ndou to Australia? The Answer is Brendon Smith. Ndou changed trainer fairly quickly, as he does. Smith maybe looking to square up after all these years. Just a bit of trivia.
Are you sure it was ndou? I remember he brought out another guy, november nishingila or something like that
I thought Kats looked in amazing shape at 140, looks more natural at the weight because he is a massive LW. I was impressed by his game plan of going to the body which he stuck to. His head and lateral movement was also great and he is finally starting to throw that right hand straight and hard instead of turning it over and losing power in it like he has in previous fights. Go back and watch his fight against Amonsot and then his most recent one. He is picking his shots more, using head movement to avoid the jab and not throwing wild punches anymore that end up being slapping shots when they land. He is much more calculated and is treating each fight differently depending on styles. I liked what I saw. I think he could beat guys like Alexander if he is smart about it. Body attack early, avoiding the jab and then breaking the guy down with the right hand and the left hook. I think he will stop Lovemore. Sure, lovemore has a good chin but he struggles against guys that move well and that can bully him. Katsidis will stalk him down, wait patiently (can't believe I am saying that) and catch him with the right hand over the hook. His left rip to the body just behind the elbows is an amazing punch. I forsee it being his new main weapon after success with Lozada. Lozada was no world beater, and was a blown up SFW, but I saw a blue print that really impressed me. Him and Brendan obviously watched the tapes, created a game plan and stuck with it. This is something I don't think they had done much of in the past. Against Casamayor he finally cracked the case but reverted back to his style in the earlier rounds which got him dropped and eventually stopped. He just needs to fight smart.
Agree kats looked fine at 140. But he was up against a guy who didnt train a day and didnt try an inch, the fight was no gauge for future reference at that weight. I actually thought kats looked a little sloppy in spots and a littke too eager to get the job done. No improvement with his right hand technique....its terrible. Im suspecting its injured and he throws it like that to try and protect it or something. Ty would have went better than lozada.
Ndou - Katsidis is a decent matchup but should not be for a world title at 140. I expect Katsidis to win on points.
If i had to respond to Dr Gonzo's post id say this explanation hits it on the head.... Lozada was terrible and Kats was sloppy at times trying to get the job done as u pointed out. The right hand looked a little better but it's still a really bad technique, actually Brendan Smiths kids does the same thing with his right hand atsch There is no way anyone can get a guide how Kats will perform at 140lbs based on that last opponent.
Tend to agree about Katsidis on points. Would be very interesting to see how the 2nd half of the fight goes as Katsidis is prone to cuts & Lovemore nearly always finishes strong.
...my gut feeling is that Ndou has enough handspeed to pile on the points and Kat's face first style might just play to Ndou's strengths...I just got this feelin' that Lovemore might get him on points...but I hope i'm wrong...
It's like he twists his fist mid punch when he throws that right... It should be his money punch but it is far from it
Kats vs. Ganoy would have been a stunning semi-main to Geale's show next Wednesday... Would have been more action than any of the bouts on the card. Shame... :-(
I havent seen brendans boy, he throws it the same way? Wow, thats ridiculous. Im scratching my head....only thing i can think of now is that whilst training in thailand, some thai kung fu master showed them a new technique and demonstrated on a stack of besser blocks.
