I just read that the Lovemore v Philip Ndou fight in Sth Africa on July 11 has been sanctioned as a title fight for the vacant 147 belt. A little surprising given: - Lovemore has lost his last two fights. - Philip Ndou has had one fight in five years, a win against a guy nobody has heard of who wasn't ranked anywhere. I think he was 16-5 or something. Rachid Drilzane. - Philip Ndou isn't even ranked in the IBO top 100. No surprise but he is fighting for a world title in July. gtfoh. Feel free to explain that crap.
Its all about the South African's pull with the IBO and how many times a year they pay sanction fees. One of the IBO's main sources of income is through the big promoters in SA. This is where the IBO lets themselves down, they put on good quality fights like Pacman V Hatton and Dawson v Tarver and then they serve up this. I wonder if the World Tilte I won this morning in my box of cornflakes is worth anything! Money gets you everywhere in this game.
Same as how the **** is Daniel Geale the IBO middleweight "world champion". Who the **** has he beaten other than bums and journeymen.
Could someone also explain how Derik Milham, who from what I hear is not even a member of the IBO gets appointed as one of the judges for the Geale - Mundine fight. I have nothing against Milham, who I consider to be one of the better officials in recent times, but it's not difficult to work out who came up with that idea. Anything else you'd like Khoder?
Here you go balders - Philip Ndou has XXX points at Junior Welterweight with a ranking of No. 57. With a move to Welterweight he would have XXX points which would give him a rating of No. 60 at Welterweight at this time. When the Ndou (Ndou V Mwalase was the original fight so it has been one drama after another) fight was first brought to us it was clearly intended to be an eliminator with the winner to fight Mathew Hatton as the main event on a very big show. Golden Gloves was left in the lurch when Hatton withdrew from the box off to fight Zab Judah instead. An exception was requested by Golden Gloves to elevate the fight to a World Championship and based upon all the circumstances it was granted. As you know, exceptions for fighters outside of the top 35 to fight for our world title are not readily granted. In fact, I believe exceptions outside the top 50 have only been given twice (other than for Intercontinental Champions) with after due deliberation under special circumstances I have taken out his actual points as these are for internal use only - when we placed them upon the website people used them to try and manipulate the system
He's facking right! It's that Kagsy bloke trying to see Philly in all his (magnificent) glory - at least the wife and kids were safe!
Why do I need to answer it Julian? Have a look at the blokes credentials - they speak for themselves. At the end of the day, there is always politics in boxing and other bases needed to be covered and this appointment allowed that to be covered without leading to massive complications. Derek was basically my mentor when I started boxing and I have no doubt he will do nothing but his normal job on the night
