Try shrugs with a barbell, pick a wieght were you only do 8 to 10 reps, do 3 sets of them and on do another set were you shrug the wieght and hold it for 30 to 40 seconds, doing that forces your traps to grow. My neck use to average last year, now its pretty big.

shrugs won't strengthen your neck in terms of taking a punch.

the bridge is definitely the way to go but you need to practice this often and under supervision if done incorrectly you can hurt yourself bad. there is a tyson vid on youtube that shows how its done bt im not sure how to post the video here

They can but the effects would be secondary to a weighted neck harness which is more effective.Shrugs build your traps and upper trapezius so there would be an increase in collar size and overall neck strength by doing this excercise.Evander Holyfield i believe does quite a few as does Ricky Hatton and they all have very well developed traps as do most boxers.
