Need a boxing book recommendation

I've read biographies on Ezzard Charles, Sam Langford, Jerry Quarry, Ali × umpteen, Joe Louis × umpteen, Jack kid Berg, Ken Buchanan, Billy Conn, Johnny Owen, Jake LaMotta, Jim Watt, Alan Minter, John Conteh, Joe Frazier, Freddie Mills, Randy Turpin, Jackie King, George Foreman, Marvin Hagler, Terry Downes which I've enjoyed but the one on Benny Lynch was the best of the lot.
A book on the mobs influence on boxing was very readable but the authors name escapes me.
A fictitious look at Al Bummy Davis and the mob was good and leaves the reader with a lot of sympathy and respect for Davis.
A shortish book on the Louis-Galento fight was surprisingly good.
I've read 2 books on Sonny Liston that were disappointing and one on George Chuvalo that i was a bit disappointed with too.
Then there's numerous books on the history of boxing, my attic is cluttered with them.
Boxing news annuals and Ring record books are there too.

 

So many. McIlvanney On Boxing by Hugh McIlvanney is one that every boxing fan should read.

 

Yeah, I too still have a fair 'little' collection, a dozen or two Books that I retained, the Ring Magazine and Boxing News from the 1930s & 1940s, Boxing News Annuals, Ring Record Books 40s too. Other Mags, Ringsider, Gladiator, and other one off publications from then.

And as many here already know, I SOLD my Larger Collection - 100 years of Boxing History, same as mentioned above but nealy 100 years of it, including over 70 Boxing Bio's & Text books - to the Hattons, in order for them to Open a Boxing Library in their Hyde Gym.

I'm not sure if they ever did (?).

 

Newer than what you're looking for, but Undisputed Truth by Mike Tyson is on Audible. It has to be the most bat**** crazy recounting of the life of an iconic and polarizing fighter ever written. If you are to read ONE book by a more modern fighter, it has to be this. The things he admits to, retells in great detail in there, just.. jeez.

 

Got it for Xmas. Brilliant read

I think my oldest book is a little one by Jimmy Wilde.
It was written while Dempsey was Heavyweight champion and Jem Driscoll gets a mention.
I have a modern (200ish) boxing news annual that is a cracker.
Uppercuts and daisies is a belter too.
Reg Gutteridge is a global boxing personality imo and should have been recognised
