Well Im 19 years old.. and I been boxing on and off for a year, still didnt have any fights but now im getting close.. Heres my problem.. My walk around weight is about 185.. im 6"0 tall.. i been on a diet for about a month and a half but not working out, just a little here and there and dropped to 171.. but i feel that im weak.. is my height good enough for a light heavyweight.. because thats where i feel most comfortable.. around 174-175 I also naturally have heavy bones so its hard for me to drop weight and feel comfortable.. my coach says id be better to drop at 165 but i just dont feel to good there and i feel that ill always have to worry about dropping weight before fights.. because ill gain right away and go back to around 174-175
Depending on your body fat%, DROP THE ****ING WEIGHT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Guys at 178 often cut down from 200 or more, and they will hurt you. Don't ask me how I know this, I just know. P.S. I'm 6'0, 175. Cut down from 185. Going down to 165, which is where I was at last July. Fighting at 178 is just not worth it if you can make 165. 178 is where you start getting some seriously big dudes, and some of them can hit extremely hard for 3 rounds.
