Ok basically I have started S&C training 3 times a week I am a novice amatuer 3 fights so far won2 lost1 all points always struggled with my fitness did roadwork sprints slow jogs plus 4 o 5 nights boxing.

In my fights last season I was always tired and didn't feel like I had enough power in there so during the summer break Iv decided to start serious training to get ready for September so found this S&C class

It's a brutal class consists of loads of different stuff Olympic lifts, power lifts, yoga,Pilates, conditioning etc etc basically everything you need to become a more explosive powerful fitter athlete

Now the question I have is do you guys think that this is to much training for a novice amatuer? I'm in the boxing gym 4 nights and now doing this class 3 mornings plus I'm wanting to start getting some roadwork in on a tues n Thursday morning aswell

My trainers are telling me that this is to much and that I could burn myself out but there telling me not to bother with the S&C at all stick to roadwork, but this is what iv done in the past and didnt feel great with it?

I might add my trainers although good knowledge wise are old school trainers don't have a clue about nutrition or modern training methods just tell us to stick to roadwork

I really want to give this type of training a serious go I'm loving it only 2 weeks in and feeling fitter and stronger already plus the guy who runs the class is monitoring my diet and got me eating perfectly to help my recovery

My solution to this was to learn to control the pace. control the distance. throw feints keep the enemy at bay and recover when you need to. breathe while doing so if your opponent seems to not let you. spin out from him. and take a breath. And most of all remember not everyone is built to fight with pressure a lone. another technique to slow the pace is make him miss. and breathe dont throw a punch.

This is just my take on it.

I used to do miles and miles of running 4 miles in 36 minutes but when it came to actual fighting i gassed out after 1 and a half rounds

Yeah to be honest iv not really been that relaxed in any of my fights yet its just seemed like a blur the whole 3 rounds
