You're right the instagram followers is very odd, I don't use instagram but it sounds like they're paid for. I'd guess some kind of money laundering operation.

I assumed he had retired but just saw he's boxing Pulev next month (who I also thought had retired).

 

I once bough IG followers just to see how it works. It was a couple of € for a couple hundred followers. Mind you, this was years ago and my account still has the same number of bots following it. Every now and then I get notifications that someone new is following me, which are obviously bots. Meaning they replace the old, banned bots with new ones.
The same site still offers 400,000 followers for just 1000$.

 

Pulev´s last fight was actually on a card featured on DAZN.

You can get 1.5 million followers for 3 to 4k USD. I for one believe that he is faking his lifestyle on IG, I seriously doubt he is as wealthy as he makes himself out to be. (renting cars, fake watches and so on.)

But I wager he made a fair bit of money from 2012 to 2017. Not only did he have a fight with Vitali, but the Russians gave him some sort of deal too.
In his last 3 fights, I imagine that he made at least 50k in each of those.

 

The case of Manuel Charr is very bizarre.

But it's not too dissimilar to Fres Oquendo.

It seems every generation the WBA have a HW fighter who's sole career is based around that belt and nothing else.

But remember it was the WBA who stripped Ali. It was the WBA who never recognised Holmes. It was the WBA who kept giving Ruiz title shots.

They've always been weird. Especially at HW.

 

The WBA stripped him in 2021 but he sued them and won so they are kinda stuck with him. Charr got a shot at this belt in 2017 after taking Seferis 0 and has never defended it.

 

If he was smart with his money or had someone helping him, then I imagine he walked away with a hefty sum after 2017 concluded. And he has been based in Dubai for a while now, so taxes on his latest fights are not an issue.
I don´t think he is a millionaire or anything, but realistically speaking he likely made some good money from the Vitali fight and his campaign in Russia.
And these days his last 3 fights have likely thickened his wallet a bit, so he can keep showing off on social media.

But now that I think about it a bit, I wonder if he is getting some sort of work in Saudi? Probably a sponsorship of some kind, I imagine.

 

He s well connected to mafia in Cologne and Frankfurt.

 

If you were money laundering then you'd want to give the impression of being really popular. "Look I have 2 million followers on instagram, that's how I shift so much merchandise" or something I dunno.
