i recently ( 1 month ago) got into a car accident and got moderate to severe whiplash in my neck and back. I box for fun and to get a good exercise, so i just hit my heavybag, shadow box n jump rope.
i tried this weeks ago and the next day my shoulder and neck felt like they had been hit by a sledgehammer.
My question is, how long should i wait until i start doing my little routine?? also does anyone have a good rehabbing training program?
    thanks to all in advance

My reckoning would be just to do a round of shadowboxing or two, see if that hurts..If not then increase the number of rounds and start off hitting the heavybag lightly after a few weeks maybe and see how that goes, ie practising footwork more than power.

Disclaimer- If any serious injuries happen throughout this. Don't blame me

this may sound like a silly idea, but why not speak to a doctor? Or a physio/osteo?

I am from Australia tho, where healthcare is free... if your from the states where healthcare/seeing a doctor costs alot of money.... i can understand, but really if i had severe whiplash, i would be speaking to docs/rehab specialists on exactly how to get back to full fitness.

If it's been a few weeks of complete rest for you so far, then light shadowboxing to start doesn't "sound" like a bad idea though....

Do you have pain in your neck/shoulders at any other time? Or just after you work out?

I would suggest stretching the neck and shoulders, and moving the muscles through their full range of motion (slowly tilt head side to side, back and forth, circular motion etc.) on a regular basis (every couple of hours or so) just to get them freed up and get the blood flowing.

If you haven't been doing anything since the injury occurred, your muscles in that area will most likely have seized up to some degree causing pain/tightness, and also atrophy and a loss of strength.

When you feel up to it, try something like this:

    30 seconds jump rope
    30 seconds shadow box
    30 seconds jumping jacks

    repeat = 3 minute round
rest 1 min, repeat for 5 rounds (or whatever you are capable of)

That should give you a decent workout while testing the range of motion and still being low impact (as opposed to the heavy bag).
Personally I'd just do that straight away, but that's just me.

I'm not a doctor, and don't take any responsibility if further injury occurs.
Listen to your body. All this is on the assumption that your injury is purely soft tissue. No bone or structural damage.
