No... we don't need even more divisions, to thin the hurd even more. :-(

What happens is that we get a couple of guys who go up and down again for paydays in the real Heavyweight division and leave one big awful mess.

How about letting heavyweights weigh a max of 250.

Anyone who weighs higher needs to find another job.

At least we can weed out all the fat slobs who won't cut weight.

A lot of boxers out there who stands sub-6'2" yet weighs 260 and up.

    @SS_24:

    Are you serious?!? :blood
That would mean that a couple of the huge heavyweights can't fight, even when they are in shape. SNV was born heavier as that.

Surely superheavyweight would make more sense O_O

Big heavyweights suck historically. There's always been big dudes around yet only 3 ever managed to rule the division - they are the exception, not the rule.

    Nah I reckon it's a good idea

When the brothers retire the only men in the division, Fury & Price can fight trilogies with SNV

Yeah, that's what we need an even more diluted HW division with an even smaller crop of decent fighters in it

The problem isn't that the guys that weigh between 200-220 aren't big enough to compete with the bigger HW (or the Klitchkos specifically) it's because they aren't good enough. If a smaller HW has enough ability then he can turn his size into an advantage against the bigger guys, it's just that nobody fits that bill right now.

A superheavyweight division is equally a bad idea in my opinion.

I don't think so. . Once you reach a certain weight, the difference in poundage is not as significant. . . It's VERY RARE for a guy to be 240-250 pounds around 10 or under percent body fat. . The Klitschkos are the exception, NOT the rule. . .

For example, Haye can weigh around 220-225 pounds at be sub 10% body fat. . . THen you have Arreola who is 240 (in "Arreola shape"), but still probably 25ish% body fat. . . So the difference in size, about 20 pounds, is not as significant as, say a lightweight who is 10% body fat, and a middleweight who is 10% body fat.

It would be unfair to create a new division simply because you have a few genetic freaks (but still have to work their asses off) to be low body fat, and 250ish. . .

It's very rare for a boxer from minimumweight - light heavyweight to be above 10, 12, MAYBE 15% body fat at most on fight night. . . For HW, however, it's rare for the heavier guys to be sub 12-15% body fat. . .

Moreover, as we've seen time, and time again, height, reach, and even weight can be a DISADVANTAGE just as much as it can be an advantage. . It's all about how good you are at utilizing your physical attributes.

good post...size difference relevance decreases the further in weight you go..

There have been countless threads on this subject, and the answer is still the same: no, it's a terrible idea.
