Xavier Augustine Martínez vs. John Vincent Asenias Moralde, 10 rounds @ super featherweight

 

Round 1

Martínez is walking Moralde down, piling on the jabs and lathering up into heavy thud-thud-thud combos, bursting through Moralde's guard. Moralde doing all he can just to cruise along clockwise, back kissing the ropes, guard up, barely staying upright as Martínez torpedoes some increasingly powerful crisp lead rights up top. Moralde looks on the verge of maybe going down, but continues to hang in there. Massive body combo by Martínez, trapping Moralde on the ropes. Moralde trots away but is trapped on the ropes, Martínez barking as he rips into the body.

10-9 Martínez, almost 10-8

 

Zero chance Moralde can make it nine more rounds like that.

 

For reference, Moralde went ten with Jamel Herring (and seven against Toka Kahn-Clary before retiring on his stool in his only stoppage defeat over 23 contests)...

Big statement if Martínez blasts him out early here..

 

Round 2

Martínez is viciously digging into the body with both hands. Moralde hurt by every single one. Moralde shuffling away, guard up, occasionally throwing soft mallets down on Martínez's back and nape when he runs out of room and is forced to flop in over him to envelop him in a clinch. Martínez is landing hard accurate shots downstairs and then bringing his salvos up, dinging Moralde off the skull or just peppering the padding outside his pinkies with rapid jab-cross sequences in triplicate, cue-balling Moralde's own gloves back into his face.

10-9 Martínez, again damn near 10-8 without a knockdown

Martínez looks beastly so far.

Round 3

Martínez is throwing jabs and crosses into the face, hard, sharp, accurate from a partial crouch, stalking his way in. Moralde starts to hammer down with some counter rights while getting steamrolled, but Martínez keeps tearing out chunks of his torso and then peppering him with straight combos up top. Moralde down from a short counter left hook as Martínez was dodging a fat dash-in hook from Moralde. The downed Pinoy looking shell-shocked. Up and flurried upon, waved off.
