http://www.britishboxing.net/news_3...Nelson-to-come-back-for-David-Haye-fight.html well past his best obviously at 41 and massively ringrusty, but as a tuneup fight and a feel out at the new weight(albeit second fight at heavy), could it possibly have some mileage in it? Nelson even at his worst, has always been capable of going the distance, and if he's injury free, it could be a decent workout for Haye. Nelson has fought at heavy during his career(during the very dark days of his early career) so has experience of fighting at that weight. Haye himself seems to want to go straight for the big fights, but in reality he's surely gonna have to have some tuneup fights first, and Nelson could probably does as good a job as a yank journeyman or euro fighter with little pedigree like bonin.
Haye would get slates for taking this. its also old news. has anyone got any youtube footage of nelson?
The fight would do nothing for Haye and he's already stated he wants one of the top guys, not a journeyman as his first fight to show everyone that he means business and deserves a shot at WK.
Nelson has the style and chin to give Haye problems but, as is always the case with Ingle fighters, the reflexes go a bit and it is time to get out. He was also pretty inactive throughout the last three years of his career. I would take Haye by wide UD.
It would have some interest in how Haye dealt with the problems Nelson set but its got less chance of happening then Robinson-La Motta 7.
I think this would probably be the hardest fight of Haye's career - Nelson is a very cagey southpaw/switch hitter who was fast enough to get in range, get shots off and dance out of the way. He was also capable of throwing shots from strange angles - a bit different to Maccarinelli! The Ingles are also past masters at getting under people's skin at press conferences - whether this would work with Haye or not I doubt, but they would certainly be a damn sight better than Enzo Calzaghe. As I said, Haye wide UD, but not without a few problems on the way - he would also learn a great deal.
Nelson would be by far the best opponent Haye has ever fought even after a couple of year retirement. Enzo is poor, a bunch of journeymen and a shot to **** Mormeck.
Enzo is pretty decent but made for Haye. Mormeck was completely head ****ed before the Haye fight. He should not have even been fighting.
