I’m the same. Just used to wind me up. The same kiss arses (Coldwell, Sam Jones etc) just sucking up to anyone they can.

That said, just listened to a brilliant podcast with Shane McGuigan on Boxing Social.

 

Just listened to the Nelson interview out of curiously. ‘If you know your boxing and you’re not just jumping on the bandwagon you’ll know Usyk is an average southpaw’ haha fck off Johnny. Good old Adam Smith putting him straight.

 

When he lays on a Jamaican accent, I genuinely cringe for him. He’s all over the shop at times like an idiot

Spot on. He was on talksport yesterday lunchtime saying he was a friend of AJ. Simon Jordan said he was a backslapper and part of the problem for sitting in the studio and telling people AJ would beat Fury.

 

You should see the Hearn interview on Boxing Social, Rob puts it right on him about Canelo and Reynoso and the PEDs.. Oscar Valdez, Canelo and others from that gym.

Hearn don't know what to say, in the end he just says something like "well it's hard for me to comment because I work with them..."

Hearn completely folds, after all the crap he said about Big Baby Miller and others, but he just can't bring himself to say ANYTHING negative about that gym.. he actually looks embarrassed rather angry he had been asked.

Johnny Nelson has an inferiority complex. He knows Usyk is a real cruiserweight champion who was genuinely the best, and now he's doing it at heavyweight. Remember when Huck was on the verge of breaking Nelson's WBO record? I think it ended up in a tie with Huck's loss to Glowacki. Nelson kept saying he may come back and beat Huck, and that it was a realistic goal.

He wore a skirt in the ring and was one of the most boring boxers I can remember. Credit to him for carving out a very good career after a bad start, but he's an irritant with his punditry. It actually wasn't that bad in the early 2000's, but his head has blown up considerably since.

 

Yeah well, anyway, this is Nelson.. the same Nelson who said James Tennyson "would beat Tank Davis right now"


Tennyson went on to be stopped inside a round in his next fight by Straffon.

He was on Jeremy Vile on talk radio the other day, and the vile one introduced him as the legendary Johnny Nelson, the longest reigning champion britain has ever produced!!

I pulled over in the car with the missus and started to get out when she says do you not want to listen to this before we go...

I quickly exited the car, it was excrutiating..
