Do they get the better of you before fighting, and if so, how do you deal with them?
I know my movement becomes sluggish, and I lose a lot of form, don't know how to deal with it.

this is why most all sports its 90% mental and 10% physical. you have to phych yourself out. Wether its coming in with a warrior mentatlity, win or go home, or make yourself believe he's the enemy, like he hit ya momma and almost killd her. Or in most common cases in boxing, just come in with so much false bravado that you believe your gonna win cause you have convinced everyone else that you will

    hope it helps:good

I just think to myself: Nerves are only the release of chemicals in the brain (maybe I'm wrong), you've trianed damn hard for this fight, and that if the other guy isn't feeling the nerves then he's in for a shock.

you can't get rid of them

but just know that the other guy is as nervous as you, so let him do the stressing and accept that yeah you're nervous but you know why and you're not gonna let is get on top of you

I used to drown in nerves. I used to be t-e-r-r-i-f-i-e-d before a fight.

Honestly, HARD sparring sessions, where we get nasty, got me over it. If you get comfortable sparring that way, your fight will just like another sparring session.

  11. Experience and confidence will help that. Do some crazy **** before the fight, things like rock climbing, Go on an insanely long run, hard sparring, go on a hike or something that you can use to prove to yourself that you're tougher than mr x in the ring.

That or just fake it until you make it.

haha "fake it until you make it" thats good.

try going over what you know & what you are going to do. like remind yourself, "jab, keep my guard up, don't drop my other hand when I'm throwing a combination"

go over all the little details cause it will take your mind off your nerves, give you confidence by reminding you what you have trained to do, and your game plan. plus you won't forget all the important details and bad habits and stuff because being afraid makes you tense, wild, and flustered.

this is my experience at least

also, try and remember that EVERYONE is nervous before fights early in their career. very very nervous.

Most men in the world wish they had the courage to step in the ring, but they don't. Take pride in the fact that you are willing to do what most people wish they could do, but are too scared.

I'm pretty sure everyone feels some nerves. I know I do.

Just remind yourself to relax, because they other guy is just as nervous. You being relaxed will help you keep your energy, and maybe his nerves will work to your advantage.

Throw some feints and counters and see how scared he is.
