This is, unfortunately, the best male fight of the upcoming weekend (along with Manuel Charr vs. Mairis Briedis, a heavyweight 8-rounder pairing a failed contender with a blown-up European level Cruiser). If you are into ladies' boxing, there are two IBF world title bouts (bantamweight in Chile and lightweight in Argentina, both on Saturday). Otherwise, this Mexico Televia main event is as good as it gets. Saguilán is on a 7-0 (2) run since he abandoned the super featherweight division after incurring the fourth defeat of his career and third at that weight. He is yet to face anyone remotely near Corley's level (or a halfway decent southpaw, period) but will be defending his WBC trinket at home in Mexico where Corley for all his globetrotting has never fought. Corley has only a single ring appearance in the last eleven months, forfeiting to Manny Perez in May citing unbearable soreness in his feet after having provided Floyd Mayweather Jr. with sparring for Manny Pacquiao (This was somewhat ironic given that Corley's side business is the design and manufacture of comfortable athletic footwear marketed to fellow boxers...) Last time he came in with a full dedicated training camp he scored a dominant shutout with 5 knockdowns over Daniel Attah. What about Stanislav Kashtanov Vs. Felix Valera and Dmitry Chudinov Vs. Adrian Luna Flores? They're decent matchups.
What can I say I like watching one sided beatdowns. What's your opinion about Kashtanov Vs. Valera, Valera is undefeated with all of his stoppages coming in the first or second round, yet I can't find one match on Youtube.
Both of the Latin Americans on that card have more padding in their records than an insecure flat-chested thirteen year old's training bra.
I'm going with a stoppage by Mr. Choppage. He will presumably come into this well prepared and injury free (although given his age you never can be sure) and looking to save face after the Perez embarrassment, and Saguilán was knocked out in 2 by Trash Riovalle - a tough journeyman and natural welterweight but still a few levels below even an old Corley.
It'll probably be by UD, although I almost want to root for Saguilán since his nickname is Pantera its a pity he's probably never heard of them. Although I'm sure he's stumbled over them on Google search.
Probably just a nod to Omar Figueroa Jr. or Edison Miranda (though he isn't a puncher like either of them)
Chudinov Vs Flores is IMO a goodmatch up (After all Murata couldn't get rid of Flores) The bout in Chile will be streamed by the TV company (CHV) but it looks like you need to be in Chile for that. As for Saguilan Vs Corley, it's a hard call, I though Aguelo beat Saguilan though the lucha masked Saguilan did dominate Okada (albeit a shot to bits Okada). Corley is certainly shop warn but Saguilan isn't anything special...
Corley's still fighting? Yowzer! atsch I am not that familiar with his opponent, but if he is even close to world class, I can't imagine he won't get past Corley at this point.
Please don't mention Manuel Charr in a discussion of best upcoming fights ever again. I hacked in my mouth a little bit.
...and Chop showed less than a year ago that he still has pop, with Attah (though Attah is chinny and Chop didn't finish him)
