Please list me the reasons why he should have fought Margarito over Baldomir.

Also Floyd offered Margarito to fight in place of Judah, but Margarito's team declined :deal

When 147 was smoking hot with Floyd. Cotto, Mosely, Williams, and Margarito all near the top of the division, Floyd always found a way not to fight any of the other top guys. It's mind boggling to consider what Floyd's Resume' and legacy would be like had he beaten them all. Gues he just couldn't be arsed to find his urge.

...but which one of those guys made themselves stand out to the point that you can say he ducked them individually?

yo bbal, while i'd say lil floyd would ud tony by wide range if they ever fought, you can't take the possibility of tony actually pulling it off

the type of punches that tony would walk through, plus the possible brick gloves, lil floyd might not be able to take those bombs

again, another what if, so anything's possible

He should of fought Cotto before he left. Also he is ducking Manny right now. I don't blame him for not fighting Tszyu though. They were on different networks. IMO Marg is garbage and he was cheating anyway. Paul williams wasn't really relevant before Floyd retired so I wouldn't consider that a duck. So 2 fighters, unless you count when he ducked out of going up 2 weight classes to fight Winky.

Up to and including 135 he was taking on them all.

From 140 on it got selective and a little disapointing.

He's amazing, his style is awesome, but there's a paradox between how brazen and the overconfident stuff he speaks and his actions from 140lbs onward.

I think he could have racked up victories over pretty much 99% of fighters at 147 and below til now, but instead he sends mixed messages out there.

I think a loss would actually BENEFIT him in that the pressure of the 0 is a load of bull**** and doesn't make him any less a great fighter, but that whole psychological possibility of loosing his O seems to be the motivator in him not prooving what most people suspect.

That he is the fighter of this generation, or at least should have been. The only person to blame for that not happening is himself.

I kinda look at him as a waste of talent in some ways. He could have won fighter of the decade, but he retired and then complained about it when Pacquiao overtook him with actions. Oh well.

    He avoided the following:

    Casamayor at 130lb

    Margarito at 147lb

and is currently avoiding Pac at 147lb

These are guys that were in the division with him that he could have fought without a doubt but CHOSE NOT to.

If you are wondering why Cotto is not on this list, it is because Arum never had any intention of putting Cotto in with PBF therefore how can you duck someone you don't have a chance of fighting?

granted floyd had valid reasons for not getting a fight with cotto, younger shane, margarito, williams, or tszyu when he was with arum.. he still could have gotten to them post his dela hoya fight. instead, he took on hatton.

Look dude. I think Mayweather was smart to fight Baldomir instead of Magarito. But that's not the point. It's very telling to this day that Mayweather is afraid of losing. He knew that Margarito was a confident fighter(Unlike Judah or Hatton) and at the very least had a punchers chance!

Let me ask you something? Did you think Tarver had a shot at Jones the 1st time they fought? Did you think he'd ko Jones the 2nd time around? Did Jones ever recover from that fight? Mayweather ain't No fool!!

As for your link/sources, I don't really care for them. Go to youtube and just look at Mayweather's face when asked about fighting Margarito, Paul Williams, and Manny Pacquiao. His face and reactions is all the answers that I need. :deal

i was almost a fan of floyd back then if hejust followed-up his victory over hatton with a fight with cotto when he just defeated mosley. he retired instead and come back to fight marquez. i was impressed again when he beat mosley but was totally disappointed when he pulled all the shits just to avoid any potential confrontation with pac.

so from there, i can see a pattern that everytime floyd sees the biggest threat at welter, he just conveniently retires in both cases, cotto in 2008 and pac currently.
