Yeah, was legit enraged. Although truthfully I'm not sure that doesn't make Almazbek come off looking even more racist than Floyd, to be that indignant at being referred to as Chinese (although it was a slur as well)
The reason Augustus had so many problems was he didn't take himself seriously. He just did not realize how talented he really was. Just imagine if he's has a good manager & trainer?? To me he was the epitomy of a professional fighter. His mojo was Fight anyone, anywhere ,anytime, just give me time to get there. With a good team behind him he could have been a champion. No one seemed to care about him except to make $$ off of him Bo one seems to care about him still its such a shame
Anyone knows how many EA fights are out there? I have 34 but there surely be 10 or 15 more i would think.
I believe his TV debut may have come as early as the loss to Jesús Chávez on USA Tuesday Night Fights (Ancee Gedeon vs. Sergio Reyes & Paulie Ayala vs. Mario Diaz were the co-main events and both went twelve. USA TNF had a normal run time of 120 minutes...so they either showed just the co-mains and had about half an hour of commercials & filler, or they included Augustus vs. Chávez and ran a bit extra... could reasonably have swung either way, and unfortunately there's no video of the program available except for some brief clips of Gedeon vs. Reyes out there...) - so presumably the majority of everything from that point on should theoretically have been televised and thus perhaps available, give or take a few.
Well...that was a sh!tty post. EA provided a lot of exciting fights and went to war. Not to mention, performed much better than anyone would have thought given his circumstances. Maybe your too young to remember.
I was ringside for that card It was Sergio Reyes downfall. Him & Paulie Ayala had been rivals sincethey were peewees
Do you happen to remember hearing whether Augustus vs. Chávez was televised? Or can you remember (and tell us about) the match itself?
In my book Augustus should be a shoo in for the HOF. He epitomises boxing Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime jyst give me time to get there
I came on this thread thinking it was that fat kid that couldn't swim Augustas Gloop , who fell in Willy's chocolate factory river and almost drowned in the vent pipes. There's certainly no justice there . The biggest kid with the biggest appetite for sweets that was eliminated first from Wonkas competition.
Fat kid falling in and drowning while gorging himself with river chocolate definitely has a sense of poetic justice to it. A. Gloop went out the way he would have wanted, drowning in chocolate constitutes a soldier's death to fat people. ps. The remake is an abomination. Johnny Depp isn't fit to suck Gene Wilder's richard! I wonder if Gene is any relation to Deontay?
Looks as if most boxing fans have accepted corrupt decision in boxing as the norm, such as SOB landing testicle blows..................it's time to enforce the rules of boxing for "ALL" fighters and it's time to ban corrupt judges such as Byrd, but Bob Bennett claims that Byrd is one of the best judges in boxing! Teddy Atlas was correct!
