Here in the states, there are still plenty of folks wondering who this Calzaghe guy is and where he came from. My pal in Chicago wrote a short but clear article for those who still don't know about Calzaghe... Enjoy! This content is protected
If you asked the average person on the street outside America who Floyd Mayweather is they wouldn't have a clue. It's hardly surprising.
Let me guess it is an ignorant piece of badly written crap by someone who thinks that if he doesn't know much about a fighter it speaks volumes about that fighter, when in actual fact it shows him to be a myopic *****? And this posted by a "boxing fan" who quite aptly has WWE wrestlers as his avatar. Priceless. Oh and if it is not a worthless, semi literate piece of jingoistic garbage, then someone let me know and I'll bother to read it.
Exactly. I don't mind people saying "I've never seen so and so and so cannot judge" but that is not what happens on here. People (mainly Americans in this case) talk about a fighter and make predictions and judgements having never seen the non American guy fight. And in this day and age the excuse of it not being on TV is pretty weak. I have seen 3 Danny Jacobs fights, 6 Gamboa fights etc. How many Gamboa bouts were on UK TV? None. How many Jacobs bouts? 1. Even if someone just Youtubes a fighter they can see a fair bit of most guys, and if not they can search on bit torrents or other sites. And if having said all that you have not seen someone then fine, just say so and don't pontificate as if you know anything about them. By the time Calzaghe fought Lacy, there was footage all over the net of previous fights in full, Mitchell, Brewer, Veit, Sheika, Reid...
naw its called not fighting any damn body til late in your career. but i do think he is a great fighter. can't take that away from him.
