I have got to use the term "slobberknocker" more often. Great word. To the young fellas out there, it does not mean slobbering over a woman's kn***ers.

    Well, that’s disappointing.

Anybody remember the old pug Motorboat Willie?

Let’s just say he didn’t earn the nickname for his boxing prowess.

He had Nelson, one of the great chins of all time, on unsteady legs in round 2.

And of course the original…you don’t pull a tiger’s tail. Balloo the bear did it in the jungle book and got flattened for his audacity!

Yes agreed about Tucker. Tony fought as though he thought he was Ali with his hands down, showy shenanigans, looking flashy and confident…but unlike Ali when he did it… not scoring very much at all. But as you say his own brand of safety first tactics was easier on the eye than Smith’s.

As for those 4…Liston, Foreman, Shavers and Tyson… I think we all agree that the hard punching but limited Earnie would be bottom of the pile in a battle between all four. The other three would be wary though, the way you see lions being a bit careful around buffalo before finally getting inside and chewing on their throats!

But Liston, Foreman and Tyson. Hmm…I’m not sure of the results, but I’d probably wager that the judges may not be needed to decide the outcomes.

He did. But someone like Hagler would likely comply...and take his blows and stop him within 3.

Salvador Sanchez hardly run away from him tho. Sanchez whooped a few decent sluggers. Come at him slugging and he will take you apart. A good example of one to never slug with due to his own stylistic advantages.

Riddick Bowe is a good addition.I'm surprised that some guys underrate his punching power.

Sp-Eagle - Yes, it would be a great tournament and I’d be happy to shell out a pretty penny to watch each and every fight.

Vic - you’re right, most would relegate Earnie to the bottom based on likelihoods - and there would likely be a lot of conjecture and contentions as to the ultimate ordering of the other three.

Once all fights were seen through, probably none of them would come out of it too healthy.

Right. But Sanchez never really slugged it out with him either. He just counterpunched him almost all night except for that moment after the first knockdown when he actually went for, and almost got, him.

Yeah I think theres different types of counter punchers, Juan Manuel Marquez & Salvador Sanchez for example were fairly aggressive. They will stand their ground and didn't mind exchanging.

I remember Sanchez being very willing to stand and trade with Gomez on numerous occasions.
