Its been a while since I watched some of his fights and dude was a very exciting fighter. I was always impressed by his body attack, but his head movement and footwork was very impressive....His defense wasnt great but he made up for with a swarming attack and a solid chin.

People dont give Mayweather enough credit for the way he handled a guy like Hatton who came to fight, undefeated and a 2 division champion. People claim he lost the fight to Collazo but it was the case of the underdog doing better than expected, not him actually winning. When lost to Pac-Man in my eyes he was the same fighter from 2004-2007, taking nothing away from Pac-Man because Hatton's come forward style was tailor made for a guy like Manny who has fast hands, power and a lefty, veru hard pill to swallow

I used to Underrate him alot but he did have some solid wins and names on his ledger he only ever lost to the two best fighters of his generation and he for damn sure deserves to be in the HOF more than a guy like Barry McGuigan or Jeff Fenech.....beat HOF Kostya Tsyzu, a borderline HOFer in Castillo, and solid guys like Collazo, Tackie, Pendleton, Malignaggi, Lazcano, and two weight champion

i never gave him the respect he deserved til he was over, he was protected for a long time in his career but he proved to be a very good fighter, exciting and hell of heart.

Ricky Hatton one of the few guys who kept trying against Mayweather. He didn't know the meaning of discouraged that night.

If he left Billy Graham after the Tszyu fight he would still be fighting now.

Possibly the worst trainer of recent times.

I'd like to know what he could have been if he'd had a top notch trainer and took care of himself.

here is the best Ricky Hatton video I have. It gives you an idea on what Ricky was trying to do that night from Floyd's perspective

i agree, like the other poster said he did show hell of heart against Mayweather and kept trying went out like a champion on his shield...that fight took alot out of him....the quicky kayos dont hurt you, its the accumulative punishment and he couldnt take the shots he used to after that

If he had a guy like Emmanuel Steward or Robert Garcia he may have become a more complete fighter, he has the base...all he need was to sew up his defense, work on his jab and right hand...dude had alot of natural talent very good speed for a swarmer

Yeah, his defense was never really developed. I first noticed in the Collazo fight that his chin was deteriorating.

Also take into account, Collazo had better power than his record suggested and was a far larger man...i see what you are saying tho..when he fought Tszyu who in my eyes wasnt prime but far from shot he took some good solid hooks and straight rights and didnt blink

Fans of boxing always miss guys like Hatton when they're gone.

Froch will be missed when he's gone, because he loves the fight and isn't afraid of giving the other guy the advantage to get it on.

He also kept going even though he was getting pummelled by manny. He must have been in some pain eating them shots and i reckon he knew he was gonna get battered before he even entered the ring. Proper warrior Hatton and he was a good solid fighter at 140.

Good post and thread. Many people give him an undue amount of **** but he was what he was. A tough, agressive brawler, who whilst at times was raw, featured in some very good fights. He only lost to the best and faced some decent competition. His following was massive for a reason.
