We need some more smaller guys willing to pull the gloves on. The bottom divisions are as usual empty of names.
Funny because most of our very best fighters have been small guys like lightweights and bantamweights. Surely in 20 million people we've got some angry little guys somewhere?
Mundraby looks talented. Was matched too hard and too fast against the japanesse guy for the OPBF belt in May, had no business sharing a ring with that guy so early in his career. Seems to be the achilles heel of Austalian boxing, pad the record with poor enough opposition and then make a massive leap up and are completely out of their depth. There is no real gradual progression with a fighter. Don't think promoters and matchmakers there have the fighters interest at heart. Making a quick buck for themselves more than likely. Geale is the exception to all this. Grange have done a fantastic job with him.
Totally agree with you :good. The myriad of relatively easy to win, bull****, non-national, non-commonwealth, non-world belts is one of the biggest problem areas.
I think $$$$ did the thinking & didn't like one bit. I was at Kawana Waters when he made his pro debut & coughed-up 1k sanction fee to assist he gets to defend his Bantam title
I think $$$$ did the thinking & didn't like one bit. I was at Kawana Waters when he made his pro debut & coughed-up 1k sanction fee to assist he gets to defend his Bantam title after sitting on it for 2 years with no challengers. Great lil' fella, but don't give him cheek 'cos he'll head-butt ya......as Nara Dau found out I must say ref Phil Austin did a great job controlling them
