Nobody? Daly's is a fascinating chapter in the sport's history, IMO, and that's just the bit that we know before sinking our teeth into this volume.
Actually saw him mentioned in the December 1931 issue of The Ring as I happened to be reading it yesterday. Early career start and early retirement, will check the book out.
Could've (with less exploitative/short-sighted/buffoonish management) risen to considerably greater heights than just "domestic legend", as I understand it, too.
Have started reading this today. Very interesting story. An unbelievable situation, and an unbelievable talent. Solid writing, too. He should've been a world champ.
This is a brilliant book and I recommend it to anyone here. Daly should have become Britain's greatest ever fighter with his talent.
