:happy :happy :happy :happy :happy :happy theres to be a new boxing show on itv 4 which starts next saturday. a little like the boxing hour on setanta, they will rap up boxing news, look ahead to upcoming fights and have big name guests and with ITVs bigger budget will have a better presentation than the boxing hour.
If they talk about all boxing fights then it's all good. However i see them only talking about the ITV fights
I was surprised and pleased to hear Rawling mention Oakey v Cleverley next Friday during the Jono show though. Although much of the presentation was farcical I'd prefer this for 3 hours than a sky style show with only 1 live fight.
apart from the amateurish production, appalling backstage idjut and crappy MC, i quite enjoyed the show. overall, the fights were probably better than a lot of the sports network shows we've been subjected to. hide just threw single shots and 1-2s when he felt like it but finished off his opponent well. mcintosh - spartacus was a good competitive matchup with a decent finish (premature my arse!). o'donnell also looked good in getting the stoppage, and thaxton scored a cracking ko. i'll reserve judgement about how the weekly boxing show will go. hopefully it will be about the world and domestic scene as a whole and not just hennessey fighters.
I'm all in favour of more boxing related shows on TV. Hopefully the presentation will be more professional than some of the ITV4 coverage of the Thaxton bill last night - there is certainly room for improvement although it was comical at times! Ideally it would suit me more if it was on a weekday evening - I'd be more likely to catch the show then rather than a Saturday.
