Clever but safe matchmaking for benn again,no issue with it for me because he's not ready for any of the top guys yet, but he can only get thrown in with the sharks soon you would imagine.

I would be very surprised if Chris Algieri can handle more than 6 rounds with Conor Benn. Maybe he blows him away inside 1 or 2 rounds ? At the moment, it's an okay piece of matchmaking as Conor Benn is not ready to face the elite yet.

I do not believe that. Eddie Hearn has said that Conor Benn is a huge star who draws incredible ratings and if that is true then Eddie Hearn will do anything to protect him. I think there are more types like Chris Algieri waiting the next 18 - 24 months....

We will see, benn will be highly ranked in all the alphabet titles so the walls will be closing in and I expect they will take the plunge.

Who has Conor Benn a fair chance of winning over among the elite right now ? Eddie Hearn can be accused of much but he is not stupid. He does not want Conor Benn to lose now. It's all about keeping the momentum going.

4th fight in 12 months for a young fighter with little to no amateur career, I have no problem it. He’s getting better Benn but he’s nowhere near Avanesyan level never mind the world level (yet). So as long as he keeps stepping up, fighting experienced fighters and stays active you can’t knock him.

Yep. The year will be 2025 and we'll still be getting 'HUGE step up for Conor Benn as he faces former world champion Devon Alexander'

Then after that he should be ready for Paulie Malignaggi.

Think Benn, Bellew and Hearn need to get their stories straight. You've got Benn saying he'll be fighting for a world title in 2022, Bellew saying Benn is the biggest prospect at 147 (Ortiz Jr and Ennis must be bricking it) then Hearn saying he's not ready for Avanesyan.

I do agree, it's another set up for Conor to look good and get a name on his resume

But still, he is better than Conor's other opposition so far

    Should hopefully pose some problems

Is there not an older active welterweight in the world that Eddie could have picked?

For me this is the correct fight for Connor benn right now.
However if matchroom and the dazn pundits keep telling us how scary and wonderful benn is then he is gonna get abuse for fighting over the hill boxers.
This is billed as a headline fight in Liverpool for a Cockney.
Scousers are no mugs and won't be paying £300 ringside 2 weeks before Xmas for this level.

Boxing is one of the few sports where you actually get to pick your opponent- a obvious point but even so worth saying. Not only that, you get to do it over and over, and over...

What's going on with Connor at the moment is one of the worst recent examples of the above. He's close to becoming a circus act, with his cringeworthy interviews and pointless fights with ancient semi retired fighters who Matchroom drag away from a TV camera in the states to have a fight with their 'prospect'.

I think Connor has now become so delusional he actually believes what he is saying and thinks beating a old forgotten fighter who challenged for a world title 7 years ago and were well beaten then means something. Then there's the triangle theories. 'He went the distance with X and I stopped him', forgetting to say that the previous fight he is referencing happened many years ago!

In reality, he should have already faced Kongo, Kelly, Marku (just to name a few), even Jennings. He would have won some and lost some, we would have seen some entertaining well matched fights. He would have gained valuable experience and found his level one way or another.

When Crawford and Spence are a spent force Ortiz Jr. and Ennis are going to take over at 147 and share the belts.

No amount of fights against well past it veterans is going to help Connor against either of those two. Both of them would embarrass him, and stop him with ease, so I'm not quire sure what he's being prepared for. He's not in a division where you can pick up a belt easily, or sell a PPV against anyone and everyone.
