New Dublin show points to a Bernard Dunne return?

Dunne beat Cordoba, who beat Caballero convincingly and who I believe was robbed against Poonsawat. These fighters he fought in his ''backyard'' instead of ''avenging his defeat'' were a former ''world'' champion and a guy who was rated just outside the top 10 the weight below. This is what led to a world shot not winning the euro again. And Munroe is not a big puncher he is physically strong and has a high workrate.

 

Becauase he is going to put the winmer in with one of the Hylands

 

its not a case of english fighters would ko irish fighters i think we can all be straight here and have unbiased or as unbiased as possible predictions, some irish posters and some english posters excluded ofcourse

Maybe it's just patriotism that I dont want people to think Ireland is part of Britain(Americans, mainly)

 

Strange tae I made a thread yeaterday but go no replies .Steve Molitor Jason Booth is scheduled for the 11th September for the IBF superbantamweight title according to boxrec and sky .

 

The only person that either Munroe or Booth fight if either of them win is each other.

Dunne ought to have tested the waters at feather before calling it a day. He's better than a WBA interim title.

 

So you don't think Maloney and Munroe would jump at the chance to defend against Dunne? I thought Munroe and Booth were "too good friends" to fight each other

 

i think its more to the fact they have sparred over 200 rounds so it would be a crap fight, if said if they both with a unification would happen but not straight away

I never heard Sligo being called El Paso........every Irishman knows that Dundalk is the El Paso of Ireland. I think you'll find 90% of paramilitaries on the run before the peace process were holed up in Dundalk hence the El Paso tag.


Dunne is shot.....he's been looking glassy eyed since the Poonsawat defeat. I reckon he's shot and he knows it.

Dunne was an honest fighter just like Munroe and they are similarly rated but Dunne was a bit of a technical wizard. Before Poonsawat I tipped Dunne to beat Munroe but with Dunne seeming a bit slower when speaking I would favour Munroe if they met.

Dunne beat a Cordoba that took the fight too lightly, he's better than he showed that night. It was a hell of a night all the same especially after the Grand Slam.

Dunne climbed his mountain and he or it would not be the same if he came back.

 

and if he can't get the fight for Paulie I'm sure the Big Bang would be willing to have a craic at him. This Martinez vs Matirosyan fight is gonna be a ******* btw, their styles are made for a real tear up. Casey against the winner would be even better........bombs away.

 

Cordoba thought he could box his way to a decision, he wasn't expecting Dunne to go toe to toe with him, but he was in shape, ready to go 12 rounds, so was not taking it lightly. To say he took it lightly implies that Dunne was lucky to win, if this were the case and Cordoba understimated him do you reckon he may have upped his game after Dunne sent him flying across the ring in the 3rd round? If anything Dunne was unlucky not to get a stoppage earlier, if it hadn't been for the cut he got in the 4th which forced him to change his tactics he could well have had Cordoba out of there much easier. Cordoda came up against a man who matched him for skill and more than matched his will to win.

 

Dunne was losing on the judges scorecards and would have lost the fight if Cordoba didn't gas. When Cordoba was lying on the ground after losing they weren't worried if he had suffered a head injury. The immediate word on the ground was that Cordoba was exhausted.

Watch Cordoba fighting Poonsawat and the difference is clear.

Cordoba was the clear favorite going into the Dunne fight and from memory he only arrived in Dublin at the last minute and his preparations were questioned.

Nothing against Dunne he was a hard working honest pro but he was flattered that night.

 

Here's what Poonsawat said before the Dunne fight:

Poonsawat watched Dunne’s thrilling victory over Cordoba but he says he’s reserving judgement on the Irishman until he steps in the ring with him. “I watched that fight and both Dunne and Cordoba are good boxers but I’m not sure that Cordoba was in the best of shape for that fight. I fought him before and I know that he’s not an easy guy to knock down. So either he came in to that fight in poor condition or else Dunne must be a very big puncher.

“Clearly Dunne has a great fighting heart but I don’t see him as a very skilled boxer. He proved against Cordoba that he has a big heart and maybe he is a big puncher too but we will see what happens next month.”

 

No way Dunne should have been down that much on the scorecards. If you had it more than a point either way i'd really question that.
